Dear Friends, elcome again to St George’s Hall and the Bradford ‘Premiere’ of Thoroughly Modern Millie. This will be the first time that this show has been performed in the city and the Society are privileged to have the opportunity to produce one of the most popular new shows of recent years. This musical set in the 1920’s opened in London’s West End in October 2003, with Amanda Holden and Maureen Lipman heading the cast and running continuously for over a year. It is a show which gives the production team a broad canvas to work on and I hope that you agree that our very talented team of Ian, Stephen and Janet have done a magnificent job.

We, along with many other societies, are finding it increasingly more difficult to make a profit on our productions. Mounting a big Amateur production in a professional theatre is a very costly business, but thanks to your support and our dedicated members who work throughout the year, we do usually succeed and have a little money over to donate to local charities. On Thursday evening our President will welcome The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Robin Owens; the Dean of Bradford, the Very Reverend David Ison; the Vicar of St Pauls’ Church, the Reverend David Griffiths; together with representatives from NODA and our neighbouring societies to our performance. We are pleased to welcome back

for the 6th successive year…

Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support, I hope you enjoy being with us tonight, and have a safe journey home.

With my best wishes,

Tony Gregson - Chairman IAN SAPIRO Musical Director

JANET FLETCHER Choreographer
