Supported by Dublin City Council Genre: Performance Art Venue: Project Arts Centre (Cube) Description: Performance art from the visual arts has recently experienced a resurgence in Ireland, which has resulted in many Irish artists traveling and performing at live art and performance art venues and festivals throughout the world. To give you a taste of the powerful work being made in Ireland, the IETM Dublin organisers and Dublin City Council have commissioned three new pieces by internationally renowned performance artists. May I draw your eyes? is a one-on-one performance and a meditation on looking and drawing. It comments upon visual art and literature to give a layered experience of intimacy and intellect, with the broader audience viewing the engagement. Tickets: Unticketed durational performance Date and Time: Thursday 11 April, 19:00 - 21:00 Spectral (lake of eggs) by Áine Phillips, is a live performance where one woman embodies sumptuous madness, a sculptural entrapment and ecstatic anesthesia. She recounts narratives of self-destruction, madness, institutional care and psychological transformation; embodying a freedom in madness that is stifled through societal attitudes and fear of otherness. Doors close and performance starts at 18:00 Date and Time: Friday 12 April, 18:00 - 18:50 Michelle Browne and Dominic Thorpe come together in count•ter•part to explore how two distinct performance practices find common ground in collaboration. The work draws out the potential and the tension that exists in the relationship between the two performers.
