Exchanges or Refunds All sales are final. The California Center for the Arts, Escondido Museum will make no refunds or exchanges on any item. Contributors of items will make no refunds. Contributors of items will make exchanges only when specifically stated on donor form. Purchasers of items are urged not to ask contributors of the items to make exceptions to these provisions. Bidding All bidders shall receive their own bid number. The winning bidder reports to the cashier’s desk located in the foyer. All items must be paid in full the night of the auction. Amber George On the Rocks 2007 Monoprint Framed: 19 1/8 x 25 x 1 1/4 inches Amber George, painter and printmaker, lives in North San Diego County. George's work is informed by her keen observations of nature. Whether in her garden or on a sailboat, her eye is constantly attuned to shapes and patterns in nature. George graduated from UCLA with a degree in Fine Arts in 1994, there she studied with Don Suggs, Lari Pittman and Nancy Rubins and chose to explore contemporary art issues in drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. Lowe has an exstensive history of one person exhibitions, including shows at Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, MO, the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, Madison Center for the Arts, Madison, WI and many other institutions across the United States. Lowe is represented by Rosamund Felsen Gallery and currently resides in Southern Califorinia. Much of Guieu’s youth was spent traveling to Italy, Spain and Africa. Guieu then spent years working as a graphic designer for various companies and later as a freelance designer. During this time she continued traveling to many countries including Russia, England, Mexico, the French Caribbean, Algeria, and Greece. In 1991, however, she concertedly turned her attention to her love for painting and has since exhibited her work in many galleries and collective exhibitions. Greg Evans 9/26 Watching TV 1992 Ink on paper Framed: 11 7/8 x 21 x 1 1/2 inches Greg Evans has published Luann in major newspapers since 1985. The daily comic strip features teenager Luann DeGroot, her parents, brother, pet dog, and a few friends. Over the years, Evans has identified hundreds of amusing scenarios within his own family life and translated them onto the drawing pad. Today Luann can be read in nearly 400 papers. Evans states, “My goal is to create a strip that enlightens and informs as it entertains. Teens tend to think they're all alone in their struggles. Sfona Pelah Untitled 2005 Etching, edition 6 of 30 Sheet: 13 x 9 1/2 inches; Image: 83/4 x 6 inches Sfona Pelah received both her Masters of Fine Arts and Bachelors of Fine arts in Printmaking, with a minor in Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York. She has been teaching since 1978. Her work has been exhibited in prestigious one-person and juried shows throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and California. She has also been widely pubished and won several awards in New York and California. Her work is featured in numerous private and corporate collections thoughout the country. Hugo Heredia Untitled 2008 Cast glass and stainless steel wire 6 x 12 x 9 inches From the young age of six, when his father first taught him how to weld in the family workshop in Querendaro, Mexico, Hugo Heredia worked to master the techniques of his craft. Having studied architectural engineering in Michoacan, Mexico and in San Diego, CA, Heredia has worked as an independent contractor in both Mexico and the US, creating architectural adornments for exclusive residences in Mexico and Rancho Santa Fe, CA. Currently he creates precision glass molding and shaping for a scientific glass company with clients including NASA, The US Navy and Lockheed Martin. Heredia has exhibited his work at the University of San Diego; Pangaea's, Pacific Beach, CA; The Dinosaur Gallery, Del Mar, CA; The Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Art Walk San Diego and Art Walk Los Angeles. Shannon McNeil Untitled 2008 Ink on paper Framed: 6 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches Shannon McNeil graduated from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA in 1992. Her illustrations have appeared in magazines and children’s books worldwide, including images in Coiffure Magazine and illustrations in Ook the Book, Wild and Wooly and Are We There Yet?. In addition, McNeil work has been featured in the International Design Yearbook 2005 edited by Marcel Wanders as well as international gallery exhibitions in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Paris, France. Owen Mundy The Guesser, Fun Frolic, Bloomington, 2002 2002 Chromogenic print 20 x 24 inches Owen Mundy recieved his BFA in Photography from Indiana University and his MFA at the University of California, San Diego. The grandson of Indiana farmers and former Navy photographer, his work considers issues of class, middle America, and the relationship between art and all potential audiences. His current body of work explores transformation of the male through military basic training, and the similar cultural representations of that transformation. Anna Zappoli Jenkins Ash Wednesday 2006 Mixed media 3 x 6 x 8 inches Anna Zappoli Jenkins was born in Sicily and attended art school in Catania. Her work is inspired by nature and beauty. “My paintings are the expression of love and concern that I feel for this beautiful world,” states Jenkins. She has exhibited in Italy, the USA and Mexico receiving numerous awards. Anna studied bronze casting at San Diego State University. Estimated value: $600.00

Niki de Saint Phalle Nana Santé 1999 Lithograph and collage, edition 6 of 25 Hors commerce 24.2 x 19.4 inches Niki de Saint Phalle was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine, near Paris. She went on to attend Oldfields School in Glencoe, Maryland where she graduated in 1947. During her teenaged years, she was a fashion model; at the age of sixteen, she appeared on the cover of Life Magazine and French Vogue. While in Paris on a modeling assignment, de Saint Phalle was introduced to the American painter, Hugh Weiss, who became both her friend and mentor. He encouraged her to continue painting in her self-taught style. De Saint Phalle was also influenced by Gaudí. This influence led her to create one her own garden-based artwork that would combine both artistic and natural elements. At this point in her life, de Saint Phalle started making life size sculptures of women, such as brides and mothers giving birth. They were usually dressed in white and eventually evolved to be brightly colored. de Saint Phalle's sculptures are exhibited in public places around the world, including: the Stravinsky Fountain near the Centre Pompidou, Paris, Sun God on the campus of the University of California, San Diego as a part of the Stuart Collection of public art and Queen Califia's Magic Circle, a sculpture garden in Kit Carson Park, Escondido, California. Jacqueline Scott Dotson Tree 1992 Viscosity-colored etching, Artist's Proof Sheet: 11 x 7 3/8 inches; Image: 5 3/4 x 4 inches Jacqueline Scott Dotson received her BA degree in Art Education from the University of Washington. Her current body of work focuses on plein air, figurative painting, and print making. Kelly Vivanco Key and Egg 2006 Oil on board 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches Kelly Vivanco received her BFA with honors from Laguna College of Art and Design in 1995. In 2004 Kelly became a studio artist at Distinction Gallery in Escondido and maintains a working studio there today. She has had solo and group ehibitions at Distinction Gallery, Thinkspace, SURU, Subtext, DvA Gallery and Orange County Center for Contemporary Arts. Keely Berry-LeBlanc Patchwork 2006 Gourd, mixed media 7 x 13 x 13 inches Keely Berry-LeBlanc obtainted her BFA in Visual Communications from Maryland Institute, College of Art in 1986. BerryLeBlanc has distinguished herself among her peers with her unique style of vessels. Her vessels often have a playful, primitive feel, yet her techniques are those of a skilled artisan. Berry-LeBlanc resides in Escondido with her husband Joe. Her award-winning work can be found in private collections around the country. Estimated value: $350.00 Eileen Monaghan Whitaker Bird Watcher 1989 Watercolor giclee, Edition 12 of 100 Sheet: 22 x 29 1/2 inches; Image: 20 x 27 1/2 inches Using vivid watercolors to express and evoke emotions, Eileen Whitaker became widely known for painting with her heart. In a career that spanned more than 60 years and resulted in 87 awards, she exhibited her work from coast to coast as well as internationally. Estimated value: $350.00 Frederic Whitaker Special Guest late 1940s Watercolor giclee 22 x 16 inches During the early years of his career, Frederic Whitaker worked for the United States to manufacture metal-ware religious articles for the Catholic Church. He designed and supervised the production of hundreds of articles in gold, silver, brass, and bronze for priests and other dignitaries of the church. Later, Whitaker won more than 150 awards for his representational watercolors. He was an Academician in the National Academy of Design and served as president of the American Watercolor Society from 1949-1956, revamping its format to involve more member participation. Estimated value: $350.00 Shauna Peck Blue Narrative 2007 Encaustic on wood 12 x 24 inches Shauna Peck recieved her BFA from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1978 and went on to recieve her MFA from Claremont Graduate University in 1986. Caught between the literal and the allusive, the concrete and abstract, Peck’s work does not engage in explicit narrative rather it inhabits a liminal space. In our emotional and visceral reactions to Peck’s work, we are found, like in our dreams, asking for more. Peck has had numerous solo and group shows throught the United States. Ernest Silva Blue Night, Deer, Family, 2009 Acrylic on paper 22 x 28 inches Ernest Silva is a professor in the Visual Art Department at the University of California, San Diego, where he has been teaching since 1979. Silva has exhibited his work in the US, Denmark and Italy. His paintings and sculptures are in a variety of permanent collections including: the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego; the Fogg Museum of Harvard University; the Oakland Museum of Art; the Orange Country Museum of Art, the Berkeley Museum; the Rhode Island of Design Museum of Art, and the San Jose Museum of Art. He has received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship for Painting, a Career Achievement award in the Arts from the University of Rhode Island and was named a recipient of the San Diego Art Prize for 2006/2007. The influence of the Arizona landscape is now aparent in her wideopen sky like fields and abstracted land masses that continually reoccur in her work. Through these images Fish explores cultural symbolism and the nature of beauty. Her work has been exhibited throughout the country. He recived his BA with honors in 1969 at the University of California, San Diego. Then in 1972 he recived his MFA, again with honors, from UCSD. MacConnel has shown in the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Belgium, Switzerland, France and countless other countries.
