A GRAND DAY OUT

PLACES TO VISIT & THINGS TO DO WITH YOUR FAMILY

Welcome to A Grand Day Out for Families

Visit the Peak District Mining Museum in Matlock Bath and discover the life of a lead miner.

Whether you choose to browse the museum, get adventurous in the climbing tunnels or combine the museum with the guided tour of a real mine with panning for minerals you are guaranteed a fun, engaging experience. See over 3000 years of mining history and a wonderful mineral collection, for younger visitors there are trails to follow and new activities each holiday.

Don a hard hat and venture into the real mine on a guided tour to discover how the miners worked, some of the

dangers they faced and a bit about the geology of the area – there is also a secret in the mine that is only shared with visitors! After the mine tour there is a chance to pan for minerals and take home whatever you find. For an extra special experience join the candle lit mine tour at 1pm on the first Sunday of each month, to see the mine as the old miners did.

There is no need to book for the museum which is open from 11am until 4pm every day until the end of October and then on weekends and school holidays. Booking for the mine tours is recommended,

particularly in the school holidays and can be done by phoning 01629 583834.

Allow at least 1 hour for the museum and 75 minutes for the mine tour but some visitors spend the whole day here. The museum ticket is valid for returns for 12-months providing extra value for money.

Do check out the reviews of the museum on Tripadvisor and Google to see just how special this experience is! www.peakdistrictleadminingmuseum.co.uk
