Ken Ellis Volunteer Ken Ellis, a retired art teacher from northeast Minneapolis, comes to the Conservatory with a toolkit of trimming sheers and toothbrushes for training the 160 Bonsai that make up Comoâ€™s nationally-ranked collection. After more than ten years of Tuesday morning training sessions, Ellis says,
A community that gives back Como Friends invested $31,000 in volunteer services, providing support and training to more than 1,000 volunteers at Como in 2009. This community of volunteers donated more than 50,000 hours of their time and talents at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, a contribution equivalent to 25 full-time employees.
