The APRC system combines four different functions:
ATC (Aprilia Traction Control)
Helps maintain optimum grip thanks to a patented slip control system by providing a suitable level of power even when the bike is leaning over. Provides better feeling with the rear wheel thanks to a fluid distribution of power which has 8 different settings that can be adjusted on the move using a dedicated joystick without having to close the throttle. This system is unique in the world of motorbikes and features a self-configuring procedure which detects the diameter of the wheels and adapts to their sizes thus always ensuring an exact response to any make or type of tyre.

This system lets you manage acceleration better by means of a patented “wheelie detection” system which cuts in to gently bring the front wheel back to earth and can be adjusted with the bike stationary to one of 3 settings regardless of the other systems.

This electronic gear change system lets you go up through the box without using the clutch and without closing the throttle thus limiting any drop in revs and improving your lap times. The speed of gear change differs depending on three different RPM thresholds.

Lets you optimise power distribution when starting from a standstill while working in harmony with the Wheelie Control system to provide maximum speed off the line. There are 3 possible settings on the instrument panel that can be chosen with the bike stopped before “arming” the system.
Both versions of the RSV4 have second generation APRC fitted as standard as well as fully evolved ABS. The new anti-lock system was originally designed to provide improved safety on the road but was then developed to help obtain better performance on the track. Aprilia worked in very close collaboration with Bosch to find the best possible calibration on the ABS 9MP unit which is the most sophisticated version of the technology available at present. The system weighs a record breaking 2 kg. Can be switched off. Has 3 different settings. Can be easily personalised using the control menu on the instrument panel:

is dedicated to track use (but is also approved for road use) and acts on both wheels to ensure the best possible performance even under extreme braking from any speed. Takes away none of the joy or performance of riding “at the limit”. is dedicated to “sports” riding on the road and acts on both wheels in combination with the RLM Rear Lift-up Mitigation) system which cuts in gradually depending on the speed of the bike. is dedicated to riding where grip is poor and acts on both wheels in combination with the RLM system.

The instrument panel digital display lets you choose between different screens each of which provides vital information whether for road or race use: ROAD gives speed priority followed by engine mapping setting and ATC level, which gear you are in, trip meter, temperature and the time. RACE gives priority to the chronometer followed by which gear you are in, engine mapping setting, ATC level and gives less space to speed and temperature.
ENGINE OPTIMISATION The Aprilia design and engineering team have improved internal lubrication in the most critical points, i.e. at the piston/cylinder interface and in cooling the cylinder heads. This has taken the power output to 184 HP.

The architecture of the “narrow angle” V4 has allowed Aprilia to create an engine that is so compact it can be likened to a two-cylinder sitting neatly in the frame but with a shortened stroke to provide better performance in terms of power output and torque. Engine vibration is countered by means of a balance shaft.
REMOVABLE GEARBOX AND SLIPPER CLUTCH The removable gearbox is a typically racing component which allows optimal engine management on all tracks thanks to the speed and ease of maintenance work and of changing ratios. The first three gears are close in ratio to improve straight line acceleration. The mechanical slipper clutch provides better control over engine braking and increased stability under severe braking.
BRAKES AND RACE READY ABS The whole RSV4 range comes with a top of the range front brake assembly: powerful, precise and adjustable. Brembo monobloc M430 4-piston radial mounted calipers which act on two 320 mm discs with aluminium flanges. The rear brake system is made up of a 2-piston Brembo caliper and one 220 mm disc: the best available in racing technology.
RSV4 HAS A DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR THAT RULES THE TRACK, BECAUSE IT IS CONCEIVED FROM THE SAME DESIGN THAT BROUGHT APRILIA TO BE NUMBER ONE IN THE SBK CHAMPIONSHIP. ITS SPEED IN CHANGES OF DIRECTION IS DUE TO THE EXCEPTIONAL COMPACTNESS, TO THE OUTSTANDING FRAME AND CHASSIS, WITH RACING TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS, AND DUE TO THE IDEAL POSITIONING OF THE V4 ENGINE.
STEERING DAMPER The steering damper provides perfect stability at high speed and extreme accuracy when entering corners.
ABSOLUTE BALANCE The frame was designed around the V4 65째 engine to ensure perfect weight distribution. The result is further enhanced by the positioning of the tank with most of the fuel stored under the saddle to minimise any difference between riding with a full or empty tank. ALUMINIUM FRAME The frame is a technological work of art in plain view made from cast and pressed components as is the Aprilia tradition. It offers a high degree of torsional and flexional rigidity for perfect control and feeling while both entering and taking bends. The swingarm too derives from Aprilia race experience and is a rigid, ultralight mix of cast and pressed components which provide extreme reactivity to the suspension settings. RACING SUSPENSION The suspension is fully adjustable to suit any type of surface be it road or track. 43 mm front forks and Sachs adjustable monoshock.
PASSENGER SEAT A passenger seat is fully integrated into the design of the bike as standard. It can also be easily removed to save weight during track use.
DESIGNED WITH NO CONCESSION TO AESTHETICS CREATED FOR THE WORLD OF COMPETITION WHERE EVERY MILLIMETRE, GRAM AND MILLISECOND COUNTS. THIS IS WHAT LIES BEHIND THE IRRESISTIBLE ATTRACTION OF THE RSV4 THERE HAS EVER BEEN A BIKE LIKE IT. The frame and engine are integral parts of the bike design which, along with a few other components, were tested out in the wind tunnel and create the bikeâ€™s character but never lose sight of the track. Research into providing the best breathing for the engine and highest possible aerodynamic penetration led to the creation of front with large intakes to the airbox, headlamps which form part of the nose cone and indicators built into the mirrors. The tail too is a work of art with a high visibility integrated LED lamp cluster specifically designed to increase aerodynamic efficiency.

This solution was taken directly from the RSV4 Superbikes raced in the World Championship series. DEVELOPED SILENCER Gives the engine an even more unmistakeable sound. Designed to decrease the overall weight and increase the space between the bike and the road while further improving handling and performance. The new welded tip gives a cleaner, more refined look. These race size tyres improve stability when the bike is leaned over and let you gain precious tenths every lap. Their application comes from direct experience of the Aprilia Racing Dept. THREE-SPOKE WHEELS A design that improves the bikeâ€™s performance. These wheels decrease rotating mass inertia to improve control over speed when entering a bend.
