Bosch set to acquire Protec Fire and Security Group Bosch Building Technologies has announced plans to acquire the privately-owned integrator Protec Fire and Security Group UK. Protec employs around 1,100 employees at its nine European locations in the UK and the Netherlands and generated sales of GBP 125

million (around 142 million Euro) in the fiscal year 2021 according to preliminary figures. “With the acquisition of Protec, Bosch Building Technologies aims to expand its business and grow further in the European market,” says Thomas Quante, president of Bosch Building Technologies. It has been agreed that the purchase price will not be disclosed. The acquisition is subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities. Thomas Quante continues: “With its market presence in the UK, Protec is an ideal complement for Bosch Building Technologies. Together, we want to continue to expand the business, building on Protec’s strong brand with an innovative product and service offering, the highly experienced management that is committed to the company, and the employees who have in-depth industry knowledge and a high level of customer service.” Barrie Russell, founder and chairman of Protec Fire and Security Group says: “With Bosch, we found a great partner who values our history, brand and our extraordinary team. Abloy wins £2.5m contract with UK Power Networks

• The SmartWater Group has announced the acquisition of Tag Security Holdings (TSH), supported by its primary investment partner, Freshstream. The acquisition is The SmartWater Group’s first following Freshstream’s investment in March 2021. • Following an audit by an independent UKAS certification body, Eclipse Digital Solutions has achieved ISO 27001:2017 certification, confirming the company’s commitment to keeping customer data safe.

Abloy UK has been awarded a five-year contract with UK Power Networks valued at £2.5m to upgrade the current mechanical locking systems to a combined electromechanical and mechanical locking solution, for its high and low voltage distribution networks. UK Power Networks own and maintain the electricity distribution network across South East England, the East of England and London. Products specified include a mix of Abloy PROTEC2 CLIQ electromechanical and PROTEC2 mechanical padlocks and cylinders, which will be controlled and administered using the new CIPE Manager operating system. It is estimated that Abloy will supply around 9,500 padlocks per annum, together with programmable PROTEC2 CLIQ Bluetooth Low Energy keys, enabling UK Power Network’s system to be expanded conveniently in the future.
