Lecturers Abramowicz, Daniel A. Dr. Abramowicz is Crown’s Chief Technology Officer with global responsibility for innovation and technology development, including product design, process development, materials, and engineering. Dr. Abramowicz also heads Crown’s EHS and Sustainability efforts. Before joining Crown, he was a Technical Director for GE responsible for technology development across GE’s Industrial and Consumer Businesses. Dr. Abramowicz received a B.A. in

Chemistry from St. Francis University and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Princeton University. He has recently been recognized with two alumni honors, the Andrew Fleming West Society of Princeton University and St. Francis University’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in Science.

Bagge, Roger Roger Bagge has for the past seven years been the managing director for the Finnish Packaging Association, editor in chief of the Finnish Packaging Magazine and chairman of the board of the Finnish Environmental Regi­ster of Packaging ltd fostering packaging recy­cling. He has had a lot of experience in packaging

industry prior to his employment in FPA, inclu­ding managerial positions in technology management, process technology, polymers and packaging. He has specialized in environmental issues, life cycle thinking, recycling and chemicals and food safety. He has been working closely with the European Commission in Brussels for many years and is familiar with EU legislation. He holds an MSc in Process and Chemical Engineering from Åbo Academy, Finland.

Bergmair, Johannes Johannes Bergmair studied food- and biotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). He completed his diploma at the Institute for Food Technology in the year 1999. His special field within packaging is the quality assurance within the Supply food chain. In this area apart from numerous publications in magazines – he completed his doctor thesis at TU Vienna in the autumn 2002. Since July 2000, he has been employed at ofi Packaging Institute in Vienna, where he fills the position of an institute leader since April

2003. With October 2004 Dr. Bergmair also took over the guidance of the department “Life Science “ within the ofi Austrian Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology. This department focuses on food, pharmaceutical and medicine products as well as on packaging technology. Johannes Bergmair is auditor for the standards “BRC/IoP Global Standard Food Packaging and other Packaging Materials” as well as “International Good Manufacturing Practice Standard for Corrugated & Solid Board”(FEFCO GMP). At the end of 2004 he published together with his colleagues Dr. Beatrix Wepner and Dr. Michael Washüttl the definitive book for quality tests in the field of packaging “Prüfpraxis für Kunststoffverpackungen”(Behr’s Verlag ISBN 3-89947-088-5).

Cable, John John Cable is responsible for managing the Xerox high end production colour business in Developing Markets for Xerox. In the 22 years John has been at Xerox he has had many roles from engineer to Sales to Training Manager, across many worldwide markets. Today he covers South and Central America, Central

and Eastern Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa, and India. He’s responsibility to day is to build awareness and new customer opportunities in the digital print market segment, including the new and expanding market of digital packaging.
