„All that Jazz“ with Primus Dear All, Time flies – and looking back at 2012, we’re proud to say that it was the best year ever for the Primus Group! Our efforts have been appreciated, and winning the “Golden Bridge Award” gave everyone in the company a boost to do even better this year. When we were concentrating on the exhibition in Frankfurt, New Orleans seemed very far away. But now it’s already time to make reservations for the upcoming Clean Show! The full FX range As we’ve said before, we’re continuously striving to create new features and products to expand our product line. The latest FX models have been launched over the past 12 months, and today we can offer the entire FX range: from FX 65 to FX 1200, comprising 13 different models with different capacities.

Our patented drum design has given us a great competitive advantage, because we’re the only manufacturer to succeed in producing a residual humidity of less than 45% after a 400 G high spin! On top of that, we’ve redesigned the RX line – our new fixed mounted models – which now have the ability to spin up to 200 G! Deli, doorway to the Asia-Pacific market Evaluating our cooperation with Deli, our Chinese manufacturing company, we are extremely happy to report that 2012 revenues were more than 40% higher than those of 2011. As we now have direct access to

the total Asia-Pacific market, we are confident that the Primus Group will continue to grow at a high rate over the next few years, with the Deli products as well as with the Primus product line. The factory in Guangzhou is looking more and more like our production facility in the Czech Republic. Lean manufacturing and kanban are being fully applied in Deli, creating great growth opportunities for the coming years. More opportunities for our distributors We also continue to support and train our network of international distributors to introduce them to our latest developments in features and products. As we complete a product line, we provide them with the ammunition they need to grow further and to capture more market share. We also promise to make every effort possible to identify new market segments in order to create even more opportunities for our distributors. Clean 2013: 20-22 June And now it’s time to invite you all to visit our booth (#4955) at the Clean Show in New Orleans – we can talk about the market, the latest trends, your needs and, hopefully, listen to some nice jazz music! Looking forward to seeing you all!

EVO DRYING TECHNOLOGY 4

The main innovation on the Primus heat pump dryers over the competition represents a significant reduction in energy consumption for heating: namely, a reduction of more than 60% while maintaining a reasonable total drying time. The 100% recycling of exhaust air also reduces initial investment cost (there is no need to install exhaust piping or to ensure forced Pol Dewaele Business Development Manager

supply of fresh air when installing the drying machines). These innovations have been achieved by applying knowledge from the fields of air conditioning and heat pumps – in particular, the physical properties of the substances used as refrigerants in refrigerators and air-conditioned cars. Heat is recovered from exhaust air and reused. Plus, the construction of the machines is designed to minimise the cost of maintenance (easy access for routine maintenance and for regular servicing of all major components ) and to reduce any repair time. evaporation from the linen

Utility Cost: an irreversible trend During g the p past 3 y years,, a new trend has penetrated the commercial laundry industry: purchasers purch now focus on water and energy consumption and ask for accurate data. They ask the manufacturer or distributor for the e exact cost per wash and per drying cycle. This gives them a better view on the utility cost, which is the main deciding factor for the purchase. To respond to this trend, over the past 24 months Primu Primus has introduced no less than wa 15 new washer extractors and 4 new w dryers, whose Xtreme low water and energy consumption are pioneering and unrivalled. W With their low humidity grade, the FX and RX ranges are un unique products. Add the new ra range of T dryers with heat pump pu technology – whose energy en consumption has been reduced re by more than 60%! – and a we now have definitive products pro with regard to utility cost. co These results stem from a very ambitious long-term de development plan. Jean-Baptiste VanDamme VP Sales and Marketing

Hygienic linen contributes to quality of life! Primus has always been convinced that perfectly clean linen is an integral part of the quality of life. That’s why Primus invested in, and developed, its first generation of barrier washer-extractors back in the 1980s. Since then, this range has grown continuously to become the largest range on the market worldwide, with a load capacity running from 18 to 180 kg of dry linen. Always attentive to its clients – and dedicated to offering the same hygienic solution, whatever the size of the establishment or the space allotted for the installation – Primus has launched 2 new models of barrier washers: the FXB180 and FXB240. These new models are especially compact and fulfil today’s requirements for ergonomics and low consumption. In the words of a user: “Our association is in charge of handicapped workers and takes care of the complete laundry set – from bed sheets to the patients’ garments – for two nursing homes with a totall of 94 residents. We were already equipped with barrier washer-extractors – including cluding Primus’ MB26 model – but we don’t have enough space to install another ther one. Now, thanks to this new range, we’re able to install an FXB240 in our laundry and maintain our high hygiene standards. We really ally appreciate the great innovations, like the easy-to-use and safe computer, the soft door handle and the ergonomic nomic positioning of loading and unloading, and d the silent operation – which just goes to show that hat the benefits of progress can be wonderful!”

CASCADE: THAT’S WHERE PRIMUS MAKES THE DIFFERENCE The FX washer extractors are standard equipped with the patented and revolutionary Cascade™ drum. This unique innovative concept positions small bulges between the perforations to provide a number of advantages: - The inclination of the bulges extracts additional water from the linen. As a result, the humidity percentage after extraction is extremely low. - Yet, even with the 400 G extraction force, the linen does not stick to the unloading. drum, which simplifies u - Thanks Than to the Cascade™ drum, there are more perforations for on the same surface area – so the water extraction is optimum. e

Primus wins the prestigious Golden Bridge Export Award 2012 Primus Laundry has won the 16th ‘GOLDEN BRIDGE EXPORT AWARD 2012’, presented by the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain (BLCC), for outstanding achievements in exporting to the UK. The prestigious award was presented to Primus Laundry by H.E. Johan Verbeke, Belgium’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, during a gala ceremony on 15 November 2012 in central London. ‘Xtreme in innovation’ BLCC Chairman Michel Vanhoonacker: “Laundry machines are not exactly the sexiest product at first sight, but Primus has certainly added the X-factor to its range. The jury was primarily impressed with the UK export strategy, which resulted in a spectacular sales increase over the last 3 years. Furthermore, the jury was quite taken by how Primus, through innovation, competes with big

and well-known brands, gaining market share along the way. It was also clear that the Primus team was highly motivated to win the 2012 Golden Bridge Award.” Jean-Baptiste Van Damme, Sales Director for Primus, commented: “Primus decided to participate in the Golden Bridge Award competition because we were convinced that we have an attractive growth story in the UK. The business plan that we created has yielded 40% growth over the last 3 years, achieving a market share of 14% with even more potential. Our feeling towards the Golden Bridge Award was: we can win it! Our recent success is founded on the numerous product innovations we have introduced and on the diversification of products, market segments and territories. Of course, our success is also due to the excellent performance of our UK partners – PRIMUS & LAVAMAC distributors!”

FOR PROFESSIONALS

The FX280: a new and very competitive OPL Model During the Clean 2013 trade show, Primus will introduce a brand-new FX model: FX280. With a drum volume of 280 l and capacity 28 kg of linen, JJiří Ertelt this model responds to the technical specifications A Area Export of a lot of tenders. The machine is equipped with Manager a Cascade drum, so that the residual moisture after final spin is only 45%. With a G Force of 400 G, this model also meets the Primus ECO³ Wash Technology standards. Furthermore, the water consumption of the FX280 is only 6.5 l/ kg linen. The door opening of 460 mm simplifies loading and unloading, which laundry operators regard as a very ergonomic advantage. With this new model, Primus is targeting numerous OPL segments, such as commercial laundries, fire brigades, wellness centres, hotels, hospitals, etc.

“The why’s, the how’s and the Chinese” China continues to experience enormous growth despite a recent slowdown caused by the worldwide crisis. Importantly, China’s competitive advantage in manufacturing is no longer driven solely by low-cost labour. Many Chinese factories, like Primus Laundry Equipment Guangzhou, have become very efficient and are able to deliver high-quality products (in contrast to counterparts in other lowcost geographies). The result is that China has gradually emerged as the world’s manufacturing hub. As a foreign manufacturer, you can view this as an opportunity or as a threat. It’s clear that Primus’ management has recognised the opportunity. This is where Primus Laundry Equipment Guangzhou is making a difference. By assigning a ‘Primus breed’ manager, implementing our ‘Quality Without Compromise’ Primus company policy, and introducing efficient production methods, we assure very consistent quality and a clear communication platform. Understanding the Chinese market Our Primus company policy and reputation have also helped us to increase turnover and find new partners on the Chinese domestic market, resulting in some great references. The Chinese high-end professional laundry market itself is worth more than 200 million USD every year. The number of 5-star hotels (with integrated laundry), hospitals and industrial laundries being built is overwhelming. Primus has understood that, to grow successfully on the Chinese domestic market, it is very important to be geographically present and to understand the market’s specifics. To further emphasise our presence, and to have a greater impact on local purchasing decisions – and, of course, to help our distributors all over China – we plan to expand our commercial structure. Next to our

production plant and head office in Guangzhou, we will start sales hubs in all of China’s major cities, starting with Shanghai and Beijing. Primus’ flexibility Furthermore, one of the most important aspects of doing business successfully in China is our ability to adapt. We have been able to stay true to our Primus Laundry Equipment DNA, while adapting to the Chinese ways and beliefs. As Bruce Lee, a Chinese-American, said: “To overcome your opponent or to tackle challenges, you should be like water – strong, but adapting to whatever environment contains you.” I strongly believe this applies to what Primus is achieving in China. Step by step, we are moving upward towards our goals. I am personally convinced that our future in China is very bright, and I feel privileged that I will witness it ‘first hand’. Enjoy Clean 2013, and Kind Regards from Ch China!

FREE SMARTLOAD™ FEATURE ON ALL WASHERS WITH GRAPHITRONIC AND XCONTROL PLUS TIMERS In 2008, Primus introduced the fully automated Opti-load® system – with huge success – on our range of high-spin washing machines. Opti-load® is a unique system that determines the weight of a wash load

and, using this information in conjunction with our Graphitronic® Microprocessor, enables water levels, heater times and liquid detergent consumption to be adjusted automatically. Of course, new models of washers with the Xcontrol timer are fully prepared to use the Opti-load® feature as well.

the machine asks for the exact weight of the linen. Upon entering the weight, the programme automatically adjusts the water level, heating times and liquid detergent. Depending on the model, savings of up to 35% have been achieved on water, energy and detergent costs!

Semi-automated SmartLoad™ Pavel Hlisnikovský Area Export Manager

Because the Opti-load® system is so successful, but the technology (weighing cells, etc.) is rather expensive, we have created a semi-automated version called SmartLoad™ – which allows the user to enter the wash load weight manually. Now, both the Graphitronic® and Xcontrol Plus microprocessors can be configured so that

SmartLoad™ is also available as a retrofit kit – so that our existing customers can take advantage of this latest technology.

Full RX range In early December 2012, Primus introduced a brand-new line of rigid mounted washer-extractors, called RX. These new models – RX 80, RX 105 and RX 135, with capacities of 8, 10 and 14 kg of linen, respectively – continue most of the innovative features of the ‘Xtreme in Innovation’ generation of washers. For example, there is the unique Cascade™ drum with outstanding water extraction capabilities, the familiar patented soap hopper, and the large door with the specially designed ergonomic door handle. Customers will also find an easy-to-use Xcontrol timer with the ECO3 resourcewashing programmes.

And that’s not all. Thanks to intensive development, these new RX washers have twice the G force (200 G) during extraction than comparable products – delivering significant savings during the drying cycle. Moreover, technicians will appreciate having all of the vital components – such as heating elements, drain valve, and so on – accessible from the front. On top of that, in the first half of 2013, the RX line is being extended with the larger capacities of the RX 180, 240 and 280 models. These bigger capacities will be available in two executions – with normal spin 100 G and medium spin 200 G (in serial production at the end of 2013).

Primus grows in South America

Efficiency – Water consumption – Electrical consumption Every day, we’re confronted with these hard facts. And everyone says they’re on top of this issue in their marketing campaigns – without going into detail. As long as it sounds good!... With the introduction of the FX and RX washer extractors, Primus has decided to convert this key ecological concern into real figures. In fact, our ambitious ‘Eco³ Wash Technology’ marketing campaign is founded on the official test results by the renowned Textile Institute in Brno, Czech Republic.
