pl e

Games sections including bingo, noughts and crosses, word games, jigsaws and concentration, reduce teacher preparation time, while providing an enjoyable medium for revision.

Sa m

Sa m

pl e

Bert is the first early bird at the river, Catching the fresh curly worms. He dives deep under the water, Searching the tall reeds and ferns. Swirling the dirt of the river bed, Twirling worms this way and that, Hurling them into his beak to churn, Tender, juicy and fat.

Vi

ew

in

g

Mervin and Murtle, his children, Perch on the bank while they learn, How to eat and chase earthworms, Eagerly waiting their turn. But the hard work is done by their father, His belly so full it may burst. Unable to swim to the river bank, His family is fearing the worst.

Prim-Ed Publishing

With his head half-submerged under water, He lifted it so as to shout. But the worms swam up from his belly, And all began to jump out. After all his hard work it was worthless, His feelings so hurt he could squirm. Bert would never again be so greedy, He'd let everyone else have a turn.

Remember Cinderella, who fell into a trance, When she met a certain Prince at the local town dance? Well Cinders hasn't been to a dance like that, Since she celebrated her marriage to that fairytale prince.

Sa m

So the princess has invited the city's richest to a ball, A very special occasion at the royal palace hall. She hired mice to fix the feast, and with all the work to do, She found a certain godmother to turn a trick or two.

g

A bicycle and tricycle were turned into a coach, A 1p coin and pencil became a bracelet and a brooch. The Princess was so excited, she voiced in sheer delight, 'I'll certainly look graceful on this very special night'.

ew

in

They dined on cider pudding with celery curls and rice, Topped off by strawberry ice-cream with a tiny trace of spice. The servant mice sliced up the cake before it turned to glue, The guests received a hearty slice not knowing what it would do.

Vi

At 5 to 12 the princess announced the dance would cease for fear, Her servants, food and expensive clothes, at 12.00 would disappear!

pl e

At four in the morning Paul the lion did roar, His gorgeous jaw was broken and he nursed a bleeding paw. His lady Laura warned him of the awful beasts he'd fight, To keep the law and order in the jungle late at night.

Sa m

But fighting in the jungle from dusk until dawn, His flawless body was battered and his shiny mane was torn. He knew his reign was over when the tortoise bit his paw, And he roared so loud the animals heard across the jungle floor.

So he lay down on the jungle floor and covered himself with sauce, And waited to be trampled by a galloping wild horse.

g

Mort the horse came round the corner and had to suddenly stop. He chortled at Paul with four paws up and a dob of sauce on the top. Of course you won't look trampled with your paws stuck up in the air. Your need to organise your death with importance, glamour and flair.

in

So Paul agreed that Mort should organise his fatal death, And report to all the animals how Paul took his final breath.

ew

Mort called the animals together to tell them of the day, He'd seen Paul and Laura Lion shot dead and taken away. Paul had died in glory, the tortoise was glad to hear... he said, 'I name Paul the King of the Lions, the hero of the year'.
