News about Petition for Scratch Card Parking Vouchers. Thank you to everyone who signed the petition to bring back Scratch Card Parking Vouchers. Very excitingly, the petition has now reached the threshold to trigger a debate in full Council and this will take place at the July meeting. The July debate date gives the opportunity to gather more support. Vanessa Brown, petition proposer, said: “Please still encourage people to sign as a greater number of signatures will show the strength of feeling about this issue.” The petition makes a simple, surely reasonable, request. It reads: We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to reintroduce scratch card voucher parking alongside the new pay-by-phone system to give residents and visitors a genuine choice over how they pay for parking in the City. 30

Scratch Card Parking Vouchers would be a valuable option: for people who do not have a smart phone; for people whose mobile has run out of battery; for visitors; in areas with poor reception; if your card has been renewed and you forgot to update the parking register before you left home etc, etc. It will help local businesses too as large groups of people are feeling they have been ‘excluded’ from the city.
