In your point of view will this credibility ever be reinstated and how? Of course, there is no magic recipe of how we can restore political credibility in Cyprus. As a representative of the people, politicians must define their role and respect their electorate in addition to the system itself. At this point there remains no room for corruption and lies. We must learn to respect the democratic system and our values not only from the top down but, most importantly, from the bottom up. We must learn to observe, listen, understand and help solve the problems of our citizens in a legal manner and not by bypassing regulations or by applying acts of nepotism. These are in fact our own political, economic and social responsibilities. Our policies must be efficient and effective in order to tackle the current crisis. The fight must target our current problems to the core. This is the manner in which we will be able to show respect both to the Cypriot people and to ourselves. I therefore declare that my bank account is at the disposal of everyone.
Считаете ли Вы, что доверие можно восстановить, и как именно? Разумеется, волшебного рецепта восстановления политического доверия на Кипре не существует. Как представители народа, политики должны определить свою роль и с уважением относиться к своим избирателям, а также ко всей политической системе. Уже не осталось место коррупции и лжи. Мы должны научиться уважать демократическую систему и свои ценности не сверху вниз, а наоборот – снизу вверх. Мы должны научиться созерцать, слушать, понимать и помогать в решении проблем рядовых граждан. Законно, а не в обход правил, на основе кумовства, с применением пресловутого механизма “русфети” (“круговая порука”). Это и есть наша политическая, экономическая и социальная ответственность. Проводимая нами политика должна быть эффективной для решения текущего кризиса. Нужно сосредоточиться на самой сути нынешних проблем. Только так мы сможем продемонстрировать уважение к кипрским гражданам и самим себе. Поэтому я объявляю о том, что мой банковский счет открыт для всех. LEGACY - 119
