4. Try out some voice exercises Think of your voice as a muscle. If you take the time to train it through some exercises, it will become stronger. Even if you think you have a weak voice, you too can become a powerful and confident speaker. Try this simple exercise. Find a short piece of poetry to memorise. Then, start reciting it whenever you get the chance. Imagine you are talking in front of a large group of people, on stage. Put as much emotion and energy into each word. That way, you will learn to use your voice in a way that effectively impacts people. 5. Work on your pauses Your speech gains power, not just your voice, but also from those moments when you remain silent and make a pause. The silences of the speech create a dramatic effect of sorts, which instantly affects the audience. Therefore, it makes sense to work on using pauses in your speeches and using your voice to build up to the moment when you pause. 6. Drink and eat well If you are energetic, so will be your voice. Thus, eating and drinking well before public speaking is very important. Now, don’t feast just before your presentation, but do eat lightly. This makes you alert during the speech. If you are about to give a long speech, eat foods high in protein, to give your brain the energy needed to deliver an impactful speech. Drink water, to keep your throat hydrated, to give your best voice. Focus on room temperature drinks, and not cold ones, to avoid the sore throat effect. Now that you know how to use your voice in the best possible manner, you will be able to deliver better speeches. Š Presence Training
