As part of the Year 9 Service Project, students were encouraged to devise a range of fundraising initiatives in support of one of PLC’s partner organisations

Students this term immersed themselves in the play "Everyman" and then embarked on the task of developing a captivating monologue. Throughout this process, they honed a range of essential skills They deeply analysed the text and refined their vocal and physical techniques to deliver authentic character performance.

Fading is a contemporary dance work that traces the delicate moment between holding on and letting go. Through sweeping physicality, stillness, and fragmented gesture, the piece reveals how memory erodes, identities shift, and connections slip just out of reach.

This term, the Year 9 Drama class have explored the gothic horror classic The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe They have since devised an abstract theatre piece that pushes them beyond naturalistic performance techniques, encouraging them to experiment with symbolism, choral movement, and stylised staging inspired by the text.

This semester, the Year 9 Dance class explored movement traditions from various cultures, discovering how music, rhythm, and storytelling shape dance worldwide. Inspired by the power and precision of Russian Cossack dance, this group created a bold, energetic piece that highlights the style’s athletic jumps, strong lines, and rhythmic stamping

Strangers is a playful fusion of hip hop and contemporary dance, exploring what happens when unfamiliar worlds and people collide. With sharp musicality, fluid transitions, and bursts of movement, the piece moves between tension and connection, capturing the curiosity and unexpected fun of meeting someone new.

This term, the Year 8 Dance class has been diving into jazz technique and the bold, expressive style of musical theatre. Bringing these skills to the stage, the students perform an energetic routine to Get’ cha Head in The Game from High School Musical.

This term, Year 8 drama students have studied the classic French art of mime, learning to tell stories through expressive movement and exaggerated gesture Using these techniques, they created a hilarious MasterChef-inspired sketch proving you don’t need words to cook up great comedy.

Drawing on this journey, this group created a vibrant piece inspired by Salsa Dance Their choreography celebrates the style’s energetic footwork, playful partner interactions, and rhythmic flair, while adding their own contemporary twist

Throughout this term, students explored the historical foundations of theatre, uncovering its origins deeply rooted in traditional ritual ceremonies The collaborative nature of the devising task encouraged groups to create a ritual together, providing an opportunity for shared reflection and the celebration of something significant to the entire team.

You Are the Reason is a heartfelt lyrical piece that expresses the deep pull of love, support, and connection Through fluid lines, emotional storytelling, and gentle shifts of momentum, the dancers embody the longing, hope, and vulnerability at the centre of the song.
