วนอุทยานพนมสวาย วัดบูรพาราม
เป็นวัดเก่าแก่แต่ดง้ั เดิม สันนิษฐาน ว่ า สร้ า งขึ้ น ในสมั ย กรุ ง ธนบุ รี ห รื อ สมั ย ต้ น กรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ มีอายุประมาณ 200 ปี เท่า ๆ กับอายุเมืองสุรินทร์ สร้างโดยพระยาสุรินทร์ ภักดีศรีณรงค์จางวาง (ปุม) เจ้าเมืองสุรินทร์ คนแรก กรมการศาสนาได้ยกขึ้นเป็นวัดพัฒนา ตัวอย่าง เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2511 และพระบาทสมเด็จ พระเจ้ า อยู่ หั ว ทรงกรุ ณ าโปรดเกล้ า ฯ ให้ ย ก วัดบูรพาราม ขึ้นเป็นพระอารามหลวงตั้งแต่ วันที่ 1 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2520 วัดบูรพารามเป็นวัดทีป่ ระดิษฐาน “หลวงพ่อชีว์” หรือ “หลวงพ่อปะจี” พระพุทธ รูปสำ�คัญที่ชาวสุรินทร์ เคารพบูชา ถือเป็นสิ่ง ศักดิ์สิทธิ์สูงสุด ของเมืองสุรินทร์ “หลวงพ่อ พระชีว์” เป็นพระพุทธรูปปาง มารวิชัยหน้าตัก กว้าง 4 ศอก ประดิษฐานอยู่ในมณฑป จตุรมุข ทางด้านตะวันตกของพระอุโบสถ ไม่มี หลักฐาน ว่าสร้างขึ้นเมื่อใด บางคนสันนิษฐานว่าสร้างขึ้น มาพร้อมกับวัดบูรพาราม นอกจากนี้วัดบูรพารามยังเป็นวัด ที่จำ�พรรษาตั้งแต่เริ่มต้นจนมรณภาพของหลวง ปู่ดุลย์ อตุโล เกจิอาจารย์ชื่อดังของภาคอีสาน ด้วย ปัจจุบันได้สร้างพิพิธภัณฑ์ของหลวงปู่ดุลย์ อตุโล ไว้ในบริเวณวัดนีใ้ ห้อนุชนรุน่ หลังได้ศกึ ษา

Wat Buraparam This ancient temple was presumably built in Thonburi period or early Rattanakosin by the founder of Muang Surin, Phraya Surin Pakdi Si Narong Chang Wang (Pum). It is around 200 years old as is Muang Surin. Department of Religious Affairs promoted this temple to be a Demonstration Temple for Development in 1968. King Rama 9 was also kind enough to promote it again to the a Royal Temple on February 1, 1977. The Subduing Mara Buddha image is this temple is called Luang Por Che or Luang Por Pa Jee, the most highly respected Buddha image in Surin. It is 4 cubits in lap width and is situated in the Mondop to the west of the temple hall. There is no evidence of when it was built but it is presumed to be the same time of building the temple. Wat Buraparam was also the house of Luang Pu Dun Atulo, the famous Buddhist monk pandit in Isaan. There is a museum of Luang Pu Dun Atulo in the temple area for future generations to learn about him too.
มีเนื้อที่ 1,975 ไร่ ตั้งอยู่ในเขตป่า สงวนแห่งชาติปา่ เขาสวาย ตำ�บลนาบัว อำ�เภอเมือง จังหวัดสุรินทร์ “พนมสวาย” เป็นภาษาพื้นเมือง สุรนิ ทร์ “พนม” แปลว่า ภูเขา “สวาย” หมายถึง มะม่วง ในหมู่พนมสวายประกอบด้วยภูเขา 3 ลูกซึ่งมีชื่อ พื้นเมืองเรียกแตกต่างกันไป ได้แก่ “พนมกรอล” แปลว่า เขาคอก มีความสูงประมาณ 150 เมตร “พนมเปร๊าะ” แปลว่า เขาชาย มีความสูงประมาณ 220 เมตร และ “พนมสรัย” แปลว่า เขาหญิง มีความสูงประมาณ 210 เมตร ในอดีตบรรพบุรุษชาวสุรินทร์ถือว่า เขาพนมสวายเป็นสถานที่แสวงบุญ โดยการเดิน ทางไปขึ้นยอดเขาในวันขึ้น 1 คํ่า เดือน 5 ซึ่งเป็น วันหยุดงานตามประเพณีของชาวจังหวัดสุรินทร์มา แต่โบราณกาล และจวบจนปัจจุบนั ชาวสุรนิ ทร์ยงั ถือ ปฏิ บั ติ เ รื่ อ ยมา ผู้ ที่ ม าเยื อ นเขาพนมสวายจะได้ สักการะ9สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์คู่บ้านคู่เมืองเพื่อความเป็น สิริมงคล คือพระใหญ่หรือพระพุทธ สุรินทรมงคล รอยพระพุทธบาทจำ�ลอง อัฐิหลวงปู่ดุลย์ อตุโล พระพุทธรูปองค์ดำ� หลวงปูส่ วน ปราสาทหินพนมสวาย ศาลเจ้าแม่กวนอิม เต่าศักดิส์ ทิ ธิ์ และสระนํา้ ศักดิส์ ทิ ธิ์ พระพุทธสุรนิ ทรมงคล เป็นพระพุทธ รูปปางประทานพร ตั้งอยู่ในวนอุทยานพนมสวาย เขาชาย จังหวัดสุรินทร์ หันพระพักตร์ไปทางทิศ ตะวั น ออก มี ห น้ า ตั ก กว้ า ง 15 เมตร สู ง 25 เ ม ต ร ชื่ อ พ ร ะ พุ ท ธ รู ป นี้ พ ร ะ บ า ท ส ม เ ด็ จ พระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชพระราชทานไว้ ต่อมาใน ปี พ.ศ. 2527 มีพธิ เี บิกพระเนตรพระพุทธ สุ ริ น ทรมงคล และอั ญ เชิ ญ พระบรมสารี ริ ก ธาตุ ไปบรรจุไว้ ณ พระนาภี
With the area of 1,975 rai, Phanom Sawai Forest Park is located in the Kao Sawai National Forest, Tambon Na Bua, Muang District, Surin. Phanom Sawai is local Surin langauge. Phanom means mountain and Sawai means mango. There are 3 mountains with different local names in this mountain range, Pahnom Krol or Kao Kok, Phanom Proh or Kao Chai and Phanom Srai or Kao Ying. They are 150m, 220m, and 210m high accordingly. Surin people have a believe from the ancient time that Sawai or Phanom Sawai Mountain is a place for pilgrimage. They will ascend Phanom Sawai mountain on the 1st day of the waxing moon of the 5th lunar month which is the day off from work for people for a long time until today. Visitors to Phanom Sawai will get to visit and pay respect to 9 holy places for good fortune in life. These places are Phra Yai or Phra Buddha Surindra Mongkol, Buddha’s Footprint Model, Luang Pu Dun Atulo’s Bone Ash, Ong Dam Buddha Image, Luang Pu Suan, Phanom Sawai Khmer Ruins, Guan Yin Shrine, the Holy Stone Turtle and the Holy Well. Phra Buddha Surindara Mongkol is a Buddha image in the attitude of Blessing located in Phanom Sawai Forest Park, Kao Chai. The image is facing east, 15 m in lap width and 25 m in height. The name was given by His Majesty the King. In 1984, there was an Opening of the Eyes holy ceremony (Berg Net) and the invitation and installation of Buddha’s relics to the navel.
