Spirit Alive: What was your life like prior to meeting Jesus Prior to meeting Jesus I was living a life not becoming to God?

Kevin: I drank, smoked weed, and had pre-marital sex. I did not care about anyone but myself really. It was not good but God gave me a second chance and Jesus gave me redemption

Spirit Alive: When did you become convinced that Jesus was the answer? Kevin: I became convinced Jesus was the answer when I went down in the altar call and gave my life to Jesus. Once I made the decision to receive salvation I never looked back.

Spirit Alive: Growing up what was your church background? Kevin: My church background was Presbyterian, but I never learned anything in Church until I received salvation. Now I am Pentecostal Spirit-Filled Christian Spirit Alive: When did you know that you had been transformed? Kevin: I knew I was different the very moment I received salvation. I automatically looked at things

different and the more I learn the more I transform. I believe God is never through with us, once we reach one level of His plan, He leads us to the next level.

Spirit Alive: What was the toughest lesson you learned during your walk and why? Kevin: The toughest lesson I learned walking with Jesus is that sometimes people will not receive the Word of God. They reject it completely and that is sad to me. I want to help people and sometimes they are not open to help. I learned that it is every Christian’s job to spread and present the Word of God everyone. Once we plant the seed of His Word, God will water it and make it blossom. Sometimes the seed will blossom the same day, sometimes weeks, and sometimes many years. Always happy when I see it does blossom in someone. Spirit Alive: Being a young man in today's society why do you think there are so few men in church

today

Kevin: I often wonder this and this really surprises me because men are supposed to be the spiritual

leaders. I think it has to do with pride mostly. Many men tend to be so prideful that it is hard for them to submit to someone else, even God. When a man is allowing pride to rule him, he will never be open to someone else telling him what to do. He could go to Church and as soon as the Pastor of the Church tries to help him, he will close himself off. He will learn nothing and may end up leaving the Church. Not saying this is the case with every man but with the majority of men who decide against being in Church. There is a difference between being confident, strong and bold, rather than prideful. Women do not seem to have this issue with pride. They are generally more open-minded and therefore usually may be the first to allow God to guide them and use them. Once a man learns the revelation He has to humble himself before God, God can also use Him.

Spirit Alive: As a Christian man what do you feel is the greatest obstacle and challenges facing men today?

Kevin: Hmm the greatest obstacle facing men today would be learning to trust God. Men have to learn

that they cannot do everything within their own power. God is there to help us and we have to learn to depend on them. Most men want to do everything themselves. We cannot get stuck in this mode of thinking. We have to have a relationship with God and realize that we need God to accomplish His will. He also needs us to be able to accomplish His plans. It is hard for any man to be dependent on someone else but we have to learn to depend on God to Honor His Word as we follow his plan. Relationships

Spirit Alive: Who are the most important people in your life today? Kevin: I have four important people. I have my birth mother and father, who I love and then I have my spiritual mother and father in my Pastor and his Wife (She is also a Pastor). They all have shaped me and continue to shape how I develop as a man and a Christian. Spirit Alive: Who were the most influential and inspiring person(s) in your life? Kevin: The most inspiring people in my life are my Pastors. They inspire me because they have given their

lives to God to help so many people take their rightful place in the body of Christ. It truly takes a special person to be a God-Called, anointed pastor. My parents are also very influential and inspiring in my life because they have survived and persevered through it all. They are even celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year, which is truly a blessing.

Spirit Alive: How do you define your relationship with God? Kevin: My relationship with God is He is my Father and I am His son and child. I love Him. I try to make sure my life Honors Him. I know He has a plan for me and each day I uncover a little more of His plan. I am amazed how everything comes together. Spirit Alive: What do you look for in a relationship as a Christian Man? Kevin: I look for a woman who has a heart for God. She has to truly be moving towards God in all facets

of her life. She has to be a praying woman. She must read God’s Word and keep her mind renewed with the Word of God. She must be Spirit-Filled, because I am. She must be a giver and someone who tithes. She also has to be into health and fitness. We have to be able to agree on the things of God.

Spirit Alive: What are your views on being single? Kevin: Being single is not easy but it is necessary until we can find the right person. I have dealt with all sides of being single, even the lustful side. I will say single life is has its rewards and downfalls. There are so many ways we can get in trouble during a single life. I say make sure if we as Christians are going to date that we are dating someone we can see as a marriage partner eventually. Otherwise, better not to date just because it might be fun to go out. In addition, we should do our best to only date other Christians. If we cannot agree on following God and receiving salvation from accepting Jesus, the probability of the relationship lasting is not very good.

Spirit Alive: You discuss a lot about faith and devotion can you give us a peek into the heart of God? Kevin: I would be overstepping my bounds saying that I could describe the Heart of God. I can only say God’s Love is wonderful and there is nothing else like it in this life. A person can only know what it is like by truly developing a relationship with God. I know He loves each person unconditionally. He never leaves us or forsakes us. He is always there no matter what we have done or where we go in our life. We just have to seek Him. Spirit Alive: What does the term Water for the Christian Spirit reflect in your writing? Kevin: The term reflects words that will help to inspire Christians on a spiritual level. My goal is that

people read the words of my books and that encourages them to seek a closer relationship with God. I hope that every word in my books creates excitement for Christians to read the Word of God.

Spirit Alive: Would you consider yourself a psalmist? Kevin: Interesting question. I have many times thought about this, but I would rather say I am a Christian poet. I would rather God give me the title than for me to declare that I am one. As long as I keep allowing God to use the talent He has given me, then I know I will be blessed and others will be blessed by what I write as well. Spirit Alive: Who is your favorite character in the bible and why does he/she inspire you? Kevin: My favorite person in the Bible would have to be Paul. The reason is because Paul had so much

revelation given to Him by the Spirit of God. He also went from persecuting Jesus to being a great teacher of God’s Word. This is inspiring because I know if God can use Paul, He can use anyone to deliver His Word, including me

Spirit Alive: How do you hope to impact others who read your books? Kevin: I want to help others to find their way in their Christian journey. I want people to be able to read my books and each word to make them want a deeper relationship with God

Spirit Alive: What encouraging words would you give to a new poet for the Lord? Kevin: I would say that any new poet writing for God to always seek God first in all things. This means read God’s Word, pray and become faithful in attending Church among other things. If a Christian keeps their eyes on God they will always accomplish God’s will, purpose and plan. In addition, always make sure, no matter how successful one becomes that we still need to humble ourselves before God. Without God we are nothing, with Him all things are possible. Spirit Alive: How do you keep God first in your life? Kevin: I keep God first in my life by praying, reading His Word, being faithful in Church, listening to my

pastors, and letting His Spirit guide me.

Spirit Alive: Do you have plans to write volume 2? Kevin: I already have a second book out called Devotionals for Living Free. I plan to write a third book and when I finish I am sure God will give me a suitable title for that book as well.

Spirit Alive: The second book devotionals for living free, Can you give a brief overview of the book? Kevin: This book is different in the first because the first book mainly contained just poetry. While poetry can inspire I also like to help people so this book contains not only poems but other sections to help people. In addition, each chapter has a scripture which the poems contained within it are based on. This way people can see the scripture and then read the poems to inspire them to take a deeper look at God’s Word. Also readers will see how I became a Christian through my testimony, which is in the beginning of the book.

Spirit Alive: Tell us about your journey to living free. Kevin: The journey to living free is really a continuous one. No matter how much scripture we read or how much we pray we will never know everything. In essence, we have to keep seeking God and that keeps us free from the bondage the Devil tries to continually put upon us. With God we can overcome all things and we can live a life where we truly do not have to worry. We know God supplies all of our needs as long as we do our part and follow His plan. God has a plan for each person and we have to find out what His plan is for our life. Spirit Alive: Why was this is an important book for you? Kevin: Devotionals for Living Free was an important book because God inspires me every day and I always want to share that with other people. Plus I want to help other Christians and one way I can do that is through the words in my book. The poetry will make readers think and speak to their Spirit. The goal is to lead more people to the Gospel. I write because I have a heart for God and that is all. I do not write for money or fame. My writing is from my heart and that will speak to people

Spirit Alive: What challenges did you overcome that inspired you to write this particular devotional? Kevin: The challenge does not come in the writing. God has given me the ability to write about anything.

I sit down and think of a Word or scripture and the words just flow out of me. If I sit down and have to think too hard on a subject then I know I am writing about the wrong thing. God leads me when I write. The biggest challenge comes after you finish the book and think about how or where it will be sold. As long as a writer seeks God then God will show them where to go and who to trust when the time comes.

Spirit Alive: How do you hope to inspire others to live free? Kevin: I hope to inspire others to read the Word of God, attend Church, pray, fellowship, give and

everything else that a Christian should do. I want everyone to reach the place God has for them. It is not an easy journey but once people move down the path they will see how blessed the path is. God is good and the more people trust him the freer they will be.

and still do look at my disability instead getting to know my person. I get looked at and treated like less than the average person. These things have I never submitted too despite my previous experience and are things I use to overcome and do what's not expected. In the steps taken to do so, an extra one is made to make sure it’s done at its best. The greatest obstacle I have been challenged with has been adapting to and finding ways to do things with limited use of my left side. The art of writing hasn’t changed my perspective of life, because the things I write about, I tend to live by. And as far as God goes; the more I live, the more I appreciate him for who God is and because he is love. I know if it was not for God I wouldn't be breathing and able to tell things that I'm telling you now. In God I put all my faith and live with little worry & stress because he's the provider of all. Is it better to attract with honey or vinegar? Vinegar is the bitter That make strength Honey sweet, So together do they work? To attract that which seek......

I'm my life love is portrayed vinegar & honey both bitter and sweet. I experience love in many different ways. So I could say that also in many ways does reveal itself in my work. Yet the truths about my work the reality of the happening and message delivered. From my words I seek to: open some minds like eyes. Allowing people to see things that usually people refuse to look at. As I seek to touch as many people as possible if not the world. About my book: "Abstract Beyond Vizion" Where did the title come from? I came up with that title because that's how I write .You may look at the title of a piece from my work expecting one thing and get something else. Writing hasn’t changed who I am but has allowed me to experience new things and meet new people. There is another book coming in the future, date of release has not been confirmed yet but I hope to bring the attention of its readers to life-changing decisions and I hope to lift them up through my words. Though my current release, “Abstract Beyond Vizion is edifying to its readers in one way or another I hope to continue to inspire in my other works. With this book I look too! Bring things to the attention of its readers, going eye opening effects and action changing happenings in life. Brian found himself combing the streets every night for anything to get high. His life had gone from one of promise and dreams to brokenness and nightmares. However, at this time Brian was not hard-pressed to quit his drug abuse so readily. It was the cool thing to do. “Everybody was doing it”, Brian stated. WAKE UP CALL One day it all came to a screeching halt as Brian Irons was rushed to the hospital. Medical staff rushed to his aid. Family and friends concerned about Brian gathered. Suddenly, a long beeping sound came over the air. Brian had flat lined, his heart had stopped beating. Medical staff hurriedly worked on Brian for 11 minutes. The doctors were able to jump start his heart. However, Brian fell into a coma that lasted ten days. I Didn't Know

After awakening from his ten-day coma tired and surrounded by weeping eyes. Brian realized he was in the hospital. Brian was getting high when his heart stopped beating for 11 minutes which resulted in his coma. After experiencing an event like this the aftermath was no picnic either. The physicians at the hospital informed Brian that due to his heart stopping for 11 minutes and the coma that a portion of his brain would no longer function as it once did. Furthermore, he would lose the use of his legs. This once bright star and upcoming All-Star American from St. Louis would no longer be able to fulfill his lifelong dreams of playing pro sports. Brian at the time hadn’t known that the continued drug use had destroyed his mind, his body and his dreams. He didn't know that starting with something like marijuana would lead him down the path to destruction.

Many young people don't know what can happen in their lives. They simply just believe they can do whatever they want and nothing will affect them. The truth is every decision you make can and will affect your life. How you choose to live it may be the final draw in your young life. We don't think most of the time when we are young we just go on about life as though we have it all. Drugs are a major contributing factor to crimes such as robbery, homicide, rape and a major contributor to young adult suicide. Redemption of the Backslider

After experiencing such a tragedy in his life you would think Brian would step up to the plate and leave it all behind. This was not the case for him. “As for many addicts it is hard to kick the habit.” Brian struggled with God. He had been exhausted from the abuse that drugs had placed upon his mind, body and his soul. The conflict continued for a while. As time went on Brian began to slowly relinquish his life to the Lord. It was hard. When you have been in so much sin and then coming to the Most Holy Place of All the throne of God, it was crushing. Brian was grateful for the redemption and restoration that God had given him. The Lord has forgiven me my sin. He explained to my heart how drugs was a weapon of the enemy to keep me in sin, to separate me from my Lord and Savior. It was mind-blowing. I was forgiven...

How has life changed for me while I am more spiritual I believe because I realized whom and who has my back. I have learned it is easy for someone to knock someone down than to help another sister up. It is even harder to dream the impossible dream and contentiously come up against the wall and be told it's the enemy. I never thought that these novels would ever get finished, but it was even harder to believe when I started them and why it the first place. The story line is to wake up only by the grace of God amazing hand --It's about Breaking up, making up, waking up, and letting Go with God's amazing Grace. What I want another person to take from this particular novel no matter what anyone says, anything can be done and if you’re going to let anything hold you back let it be the hand that wakes you up. Also That It takes inspiration to do anything and without Pain there was no inspiration @ all at least to this reflection. I realized it was very hard writing this and I have and had my moments throughout this struggle--Of snapping and struggling to "re-Group" But All I can thank and believe is this It's in the Prayer, God heals, reveals, and I have to chill. I relate to the whole novel cause I was "going through it" when I wrote it --The most hardest part was the spiritual parts that I wrote after his death, I still can't breathe when I read them and find myself in tears. The most powerful statement in this particular novel is “Lost my way, Darn a female Lost her way cause that's how I felt "Lost". How I got in other parts of the world--Through Prayer and constant Prayer . I told God and Theneo that i was and would be happy if I got it in Barnes and Nobles and I can't believe how far it has come---Other's said I was a fool for writing in the first place I was less than a dozen class from finishing nursing school, but I still believe If it is to be it's up to me.

The novel can be purchased all over the world! Just Google Poemnovel or Zoleka'z Poemnovel
