Ambassador Luis CdeBaca office to Monitor and Combat Human Trafficking has taken the responsibility to assist in the fight against human trafficking. The agency’s primary goal is to bring awareness, resources and funding to combat the issue of human trafficking. Ambassador deBaca outlines ways the average person could identify evidence of prostitution and human trafficking. What is defined as Human Trafficking?

The Trafficking Victims Protection Act sees some major forms of human trafficking as forced labor, sex trafficking, bonded labor, debt bondage, involuntary domestic servitude, forced child labor, child soldiers, and child sex trafficking.

How Can You Help

There are many efforts being implemented to combat human trafficking. However, little can be done to fight against an epidemic that is killing our nation unless “We The People” become aware of the tragedies, stories and lives of those destroyed by this global disease. The first thing you can do is to begin a community-wide prayer campaign that includes awareness of these victims. Human Trafficking Indicators

While not an exhaustive list, these are some key red flags that could alert you to a potential trafficking situation that should be reported: • • • • • • • • • •

Living with employer Poor living conditions Multiple people in cramped space Inability to speak to individual alone Answers appear to be scripted and rehearsed Employer is holding identity documents Signs of physical abuse Submissive or fearful Unpaid or paid very little Under 18 and in prostitution

According to the Office to Combat Human Trafficking man of these victims are afraid to receive help, discuss or answer questions. The victims are oftentimes forced into to slavery out of fear that danger will come to their families. Many have lived in this condition of hopelessness for more than five years. Their lives have been destroyed. You can also contact various government agencies that are equipped to handle suspected human trafficking cases and victims at the following information

HELP STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Interview with Lynette Wilkinson

SPIRIT ALIVE: Ms. Wilkinson you talked about meeting the challenges of life in your bio it states; “each new job location and experience was perfectly orchestrated” Can you explain more about that?

Lynette: It was orchestrated not by me. God orders our steps. There was time I was laid off I couldn't see what was coming next. There was something that led me to this bridge. Even when I wasn't working I would volunteer. I was moving into technical writing. So I started volunteering at the library, designing brochures, articles and other writing. They wanted to see what I could do. So I was able to make that transition.

SPIRIT ALIVE: Being raised in the lower ninth ward can you tell us what that was like? Tell us about the struggles, good and bad?

Lynette: Growing up was all good to me. I was happy with my family, community and neighborhood. We weren't rich, but we didn't want for anything. Not until you get older can you see the disparage. However, the community, heart and love of the community were priceless. Even without the tangible. That is what sustains our community. 60% of the residents were Homeowners, the children were college bound. That is why I wrote the book, to give this image.

SPIRIT ALIVE: What is the history of the lower ninth ward? Lynette: Growing up I never was interested in history. Through some research I found that the area that was the Ninth ward back in 1852 had its boundaries redesigned. That area was mainly inhabited by slaves and immigrants raising farms crops. In 1933 it was the industrial canal. The lower 9th ward where we lived was even lower. It further separated that area from city services. Now that are is further diminished. In 1950's the homes were built in that area, they were reasonably priced and caused for the area to start being migrated to. The farmers were moved out and producers replaced. There was no longer a need for the individual farmer. This made the area ripe for residential development. The hurricane of 1965 flooded it out and the 9th ward was under 3 feet of water but for my grandmother and other residents it did not do nearly as much damage. When I left New Orleans it was unique. The party could just break out anywhere! It was a celebration city.

SPIRIT ALIVE: Let’s move on to working with Dun and Bradstreet to a remarkable award winning career as a writer tell us about your journey from Bradstreet to astonishing writer?

Lynette: My journey began when I was 11 years. I was a business writer for Dun and Bradstreet. When I started technical writing I won a few awards because the writing style of business is focused on the facts and needed information. Giving the business owners the financial or company profile very exact gave them something to look forward to. As a technical writer especially in the computer field you must gather information from the computer programmer. It is writing to help others understand the information in which is being presented for instructional usage and pulling from the best sources to do that.

SPIRIT ALIVE: Tell us about what needs to be done in the process of rebuilding the ninth ward? Lynette: They are building some homes. We need businesses, grocery stores, churches, and health centers and some intervention on the part of government to get back on their feet. They are living all by themselves. There is nothing else there. Clean up, tearing down other home and keeping up the areas.

SPIRIT ALIVE: Will the residents return to the ninth ward? Lynette: They are returning. The longer you wait. The more difficult it is. [It will be difficult for everyone] the friends that have kids. The youngest suffer most. It is going to be awhile.

SPIRIT ALIVE: Has fear set in to those still living in the ninth ward today? Lynette: It must be a concern. In spite of that they are willing to return.

SPIRIT ALIVE: What is the present condition of the ninth ward six years after the devastating hurricane? Lynette: When I first went back it was like a ghost town. About 25% of people have returned. The homes are empty. The roads are not there [full of] potholes.

SPIRIT ALIVE: After six years do you think people have forgotten about the community of the lower ninth ward?

Lynette: No It is just not active thinking. It is not at the top their minds ,

SPIRIT ALIVE: How can small organization such as Spirit Alive help rebuild and support the lower ninth ward?

Lynette: Talk about Education= the future is our children. Health= without it you cannot move forward. Rebuilding=efforts to rebuild New Orleans.

SPIRIT ALIVE: Do you see any revitalization in the lower ninth ward today? Lynette: Yes and No, the process is very slow as many of us will have to tear down our homes. However, rebuilding it will take another effort totally. It is hard but it can be done if we can get the government agencies, communities and organization but most importantly those of us who love our home and have a desire to see it rebuilt will have to make a stand.

Spirit Alive: Tell us about this “non-traditional approach

April: Well you know, I am a keeping it real person. I don't give you answer in which are going to make you feel good at all. I give you truth. I am not someone you can seek sympathy from instead I give you tools to work with. I don't take excuses only decisions to transform. Spirit Alive: Your latest book, SINGLE NO MORE, tell us about that?

April: Well, God actually gave me this some years ago. However, I was reluctant to do it. I had some research to do. Through my experiences I have learned that the church gives women a false sense of security while ensuring their hopelessness. Spirit Alive: Explain what you meant about the church

April: Well, the church knows that single women give more. If a woman is married she will most likely give less. They tell them stories about Ruth in whom Boaz was her knight and shining armor. However, they don't tell them all things in which Ruth positioned herself for greatness.

Esther, Hannah, Ruth and many of the women in the bible had to put themselves in a position to receive. The woman at the well positioned herself to get healed. We as women need to stop playing around. We need to position ourselves for a life worth living. Spirit Alive: Can you explain positioning yourself

April: Absolutely, let me say this first. Women need to stop praying for a man they can't keep. You see women want a man of power, position, status but you cannot ask for what you are not prepared to keep. Spirit Alive: Can you explain this more?

April: Yes, what happens is women will pray for that kind of man but they themselves do not have the same package. If you want to get a man like this you must have something similar. The King doesn't want sackcloth. If you can't match it don't pray for it, because you will not be able to handle it when God sends you that man. I am speaking from experience. Spirit Alive: What do they need to do?

April: Well first, everybody is not destined for that first of all. Everyone can't be Michelle Obama and handle the duties of the First Lady. You must be prepared in every aspect your life in order to get a man like that.

The first thing they need to do is get themselves together first. You need the right package. I mean get your issues out the way, finances, personal, emotional. These things need to be lined up. Spirit Alive: Right! And tell us about the video Masturbation

April: Yes, Yes. That is funny. I received a letter from a woman who is a Christian who is struggling with that issue. We as women are not going to talk about something like that at church. So we live in this silent pain. However, we don't deal with the real issues that are affecting our church folk

I want to add this there is a scripture that talks about how one of the men had spilled his seed on the ground. Please stop using this scripture about masturbation. This man didn't want to get his sister in law pregnant as was required by law. This has nothing to do with masturbation. Sex without marriage is wrong. But we have to deal with reality. There are people sitting in the front row struggling with this very issue. Don't mislead them. This issue takes a lot of prayer and time Spirit Alive: Why deal with such controversial issues?

April: Simple, we must deal with it. We want to hide from it all but it is real. I am single. But I date all the time. Spirit Alive: Christian women dating?

April: Yes, I am dating and having the time of my life. I love it. I go out on dates all the time. How are you going to meet someone if you don't date?

Spirit Alive: Tell us a little more about dating?

April: I love it! I meet new people. I want to say this too, Ladies stop going out with your girlfriends or ladies night out, some of them spend all of their time traveling with their girlfriends. You can't meet the man of your dreams like that. Try going out by yourself. Spirit Alive: Good Advice! Let's move on to April Mason Enterprises. Tell us about that.

April: April Mason Enterprises is a creation of several of my talents. I teach women how to get themselves into position. I also help with business coaching. Spirit Alive: What is a Business Coach for those who are not aware?

April: A business coach helps you much like a life coach except they help you along the way of business development, maintaining a business and growing. Chef Andarrio Reflects Back on Hard Times Chef Andarrio remembers his childhood vividly. “We weren't the rich kids on the block; in fact we were very poor.” He states in an interview with Spirit Alive Magazine. Life was hard; there were days we would have to make a meal out of nothing at all. I was deliciously good at it. After a brief run in with the law in which he had been able to evade punishment for a while At that time he began cooking at his Uncles club. In the meantime, Chef Andarrio realized how fortunate he was to be able to evade the law. At the time a struggling club began booming once he released his eloquent Gullah cuisines. People around the area began to experience his cooking. “I was enjoying feeding people my food.”

This was short lived when an officer came into the restaurant and arrested Mr. Andarrio. His time of evading the law had come to an end. This was not a surprise for Andarrio. During this time he spent some time behind bars seeking out a way in which he could find himself. There was no chance that he was going to walk on this charge. After evading police, drug charges among other things there was no way out. At this point, he had given up hope on bail. His flesh was incarcerated. Then, it all came together. He had known of the Lord but didn't have a relationship with him. As with many he found Jesus with an exception. He was sold-out. He had become convinced of the Word of God. He began meditating on the things of God in spite of his present condition. Suddenly, his name was called... He had been bailed out! SECOND CHANCE CHEF

This time Chef Andarrio realized this was no accident. God had planned every moment of his demise and his uplifting. He had to make a decision of what to do next. The streets had lost its luster. At that time, he began pondering what could he do with his life. There is no way he was going to get a job in mainstream with a record. God revealed to him his passion. Cooking! That is when he decided to enter school for the Culinary Arts here in the Carolinas it was one of the best culinary schools in the region. Chef Andarrio registered for school and was accepted. “This was hard, I found out real quick there is more to cooking than putting some foods on a dish.” I learned about presentation, management, supervising a kitchen staff, budgeting, all of the things I wasn't accustomed to doing. “After graduating, it really got tough. The flesh wanted to just rise up and do its own thing. Chef Andarrio needed something. A method to all he had went through. So he gathered some funds and opened up a small restaurant in downtown Atlanta. His unique style of dishes and charming personality quickly sent him to the top of the cuisine scene. However, he had a desire to return home and that is just what he did. After a while, he opened up his restaurant in the Carolinas where he served upscale Gullah soul-food with a French presentation. Soon after, business began to drop. Chef Andarrio didn't quit. He reorganized and opened up his fabulous Catering Business in which has been booming ever since. There is no dish, he won’t challenge, no utensil in which he has sparred. Nor is there a kitchen he cannot turn into his own pallet. He takes pride in his cooking and catering business ensuring that quality and quantity go hand in hand. Most importantly, he ensures that his life is certainly a testimony to the Lord.

supposedly the creator. The one who created this world, created her, and created all the people that had hurt her. Sarai cried to the sky, “Why me Lord? Please tell me why you made me, what was the point of this creation? What plan could you have for my life that could possibly make any sense of all the pain?” As she cried out in all her pain she heard a soft whisper in her ear. “Sarai, I love you” the voice had said. “No one truly loves me” Sarai replied “Oh but Sarai, I Love You” the voice repeated. “Who are you?” Sarai asked, although she had a pretty good idea of who had spoken. “I am your Father, the one who created you” said the soft voice. “Lord, why did you create me? What could I possibly do, I’m damaged goods now. I’ve tried to be good, and be right but it’s been too long. I’m too far away from you.” Sarai pleaded with the Lord. “Daughter, you are never far from me, never too deep for me to pull you out. You have to be strengthened in order for me to use you. My plan could not follow through if you were weak and conceited. There are many out there but few are chosen Sarai. I have chosen you to edify others through encouragement. Your pain and your struggle will help others see me more clearly”. This was the Lord’s reply. And then she heard nothing else but she felt something strengthen within her, felt a warm touch on her tear-streaked face. Sarai began to think back on her life and everything she had been through. It is true that at times she was able to help others. Something about her let others feel comfortable enough to talk to her, to share their innermost feelings with her. She could relate to foster children, young teens, and other women very well. Every one she knew came to her for advice but she never felt like she could tell them anything of value because she was struggling too. Sarai wanted to believe that God loved her too; she wanted to trust in him and wanted to be used by him. She would have to admit that the conversation left her shaken. How could she be of any true use to God? The voice came again, “Sarai, there is only one way and the path is narrow. You can continue to live as you have, there are many choices before you but only one choice will give you everlasting life.” Sarai knew what choice she wanted to make but wasn’t sure if it was the right choice for her. She couldn’t believe that a Christian life was the one for her. She wasn’t “good”, there was so much wrong with her, she had lied, she had hated, she wasn’t perfect and never could be. Why would God need her for anything? Then Sarai began to feel warmth surround her and she got down on her knees. She began to cry, she thought of her mother, her sister, all the family that had been stripped from her. And she began to pray. “Dear Father, I know that I am a sinner, but I want to be good. I repent and ask your forgiveness and I turn away from sin. But Father, I need you to show me how to do this right. Open my heart and renew my mind, body, and spirit Lord. Teach me how to do things your way, teach me how to trust, teach me how to live according to your will. And I will obey, I will trust in you Lord. And I will love you always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” Now Sarai, didn’t expect clanging cymbals and shouts from Heaven, and she didn’t get that either. But she finally felt peace. Now all she wanted to know was what is next?

How has life changed for me while I am more spiritual I believe because I realized whom and who has my back. I have learned it is easy for someone to knock someone down than to help another sister up. It is even harder to dream the impossible dream and contentiously come up against the wall and be told it's the enemy. I never thought that these novels would ever get finished, but it was even harder to believe when I started them and why it the first place. The story line is to wake up only by the grace of God amazing hand --It's about Breaking up, making up, waking up, and letting Go with God's amazing Grace. What I want another person to take from this particular novel no matter what anyone says, anything can be done and if you’re going to let anything hold you back let it be the hand that wakes you up. Also That It takes inspiration to do anything and without Pain there was no inspiration @ all at least to this reflection. I realized it was very hard writing this and I have and had my moments throughout this struggle--Of snapping and struggling to "re-Group" But All I can thank and believe is this It's in the Prayer, God heals, reveals, and I have to chill. I relate to the whole novel cause I was "going through it" when I wrote it --The most hardest part was the spiritual parts that I wrote after his death, I still can't breathe when I read them and find myself in tears. The most powerful statement in this particular novel is “Lost my way, Darn a female Lost her way cause that's how I felt "Lost". How I got in other parts of the world--Through Prayer and constant Prayer . I told God and Theneo that i was and would be happy if I got it in Barnes and Nobles and I can't believe how far it has come---Other's said I was a fool for writing in the first place I was less than a dozen class from finishing nursing school, but I still believe If it is to be it's up to me.

The novel can be purchased all over the world! Just Google Poemnovel or Zoleka'z Poemnovel

Poemnovel is an inspirational Poem novel that was written from the spiritual heart of a woman, and a man, whom was torn between the love of their lives and their spiritual calling.
