Chittaranjan Das

Chittaranjan Das was an Indian freedom fighter who believed in constitutional methods for achieving independence. He resigned his presidency of Congress in 1922 after losing a motion to contest legislative council elections.

Popularly known as Deshbandhu, CR Das was an eminent lawyer who successfully defended Aurobindo Ghosh on charges of involvement in the Alipore bomb case in 1909.
