One of the first people I told about my purchase of THUNDER ROADS Louisiana was Ron Buell. He’s the first publisher I worked for when I began my career in media 36 years ago. His to the point reply was a classic. “Now the shoe is on the other foot.” After crafting our first edition of the New THUNDER ROADS Louisiana in just 21 days, I ‘ve gotten a taste of Ron’s comment meant. Being a new publisher is to wear many helmets, all at once. I appreciate now more than ever the lessons I learn at Willamette Week. Publishing a magazine isn’t just a business; it’s an art form that carries with it the responsibility of the public’s trust. Ron, I hope I learn my lessons well. It’s hard to get around using the well-worn clichés of All New, and Improved but that’s what we’ve got here. The New THUNDER ROADS Louisiana is a tool for motorcycle enthusiasts to learn about upcoming events, find interesting destinations for a ride and locate the businesses that welcome and serve Louisiana’s motorcycle community. The content of this magazine is almost all locally produced. Next month, two new columns will be added, “Mikey Likes It”, a restaurant review feature by Mike Ennis of New Orleans and Cheech’s “The Way It Is”. My goal is to use 100% Louisiana stories, by local writers and photographers, to make THUNDER ROADS the essential guide all riders will want to grab each month to keep informed about their interests and activities in the Bayou State. You, the reader, can help us to achieve our goal by letting my correspondents know about upcoming events, new businesses opening and your favorite shops and destinations. I also want your criticisms as well; if we get something wrong, let me know, if we get some right let’s us know too. What you would like to see in the magazine? The creation of the New THUNDER ROADS Louisiana is an evolving process and I welcome your input. Here it is, the First New THUNDER ROADS Louisiana, Enjoy!
