structural system of branch Brief : To achieve planar surfaces of branches by joining nodes & ends of it & later to be imagined as a functional space.

Process : Woolen thread was tied at the ends & nodes of the branch. To imagine it as a functional space tracings were used as planes, later a closed surface developed model was made to understand the functioning better. Bamboo sticks, jute board & stockings were used to make the model as functional space.

Tying threads to branches

Understanding : Interesting spaces inspired from rigid triangular geometry could be made with ease.

Principles of design Brief : Too understand the design principles like axis, symmetry, repetition, hierarchy & transition through the famous buildings around the world.

Process : The Jahaz Mahal,Mandu, M.P. India was taken. Later by using tracings plan & section was converted into lines, points & planes. And then the design principles were to be highlighted. taking the characteristics of the building composition had to be made.

Understanding : By using points, lines & planes whole building could be deďŹ ned & also using its essences new forms could be generated .

Basic Design

Principles used : 1. Following of axis 2. Transition 3. Hierarchy

Levels towards sur-sagar

Axis : visibility

Process : Since the building had to be made in the nearby strong context of a temple ; various characteristics were derived from it. challenge was to design it in a way that it doesn't overpower the temple.

Understanding : Construction of new buildings without damaging the existing built form and using it as an element

Axis: circulation

Skill Development Centre Brief :

LEGENDS : 1. Soft skills - A.V. rooms 2. Academic cluster 3. Canteen 4. Auditorium 5. Library 6. Residential Blocks 7. Administration 8. Amphitheatre 9. Landscaping 10. Underground Parking

The studio aims to provide a skill development institute for the upliftment of the children as skilled craftsman in the remote areas of Wilson Hills.

Process : The design philosophy evolved from the flower named ‘DAHILA’ - a flower that is not a local but it's a part of nature hence its radial pattern and philosophy of “centre” is used for developing the site layout and circulation patterns.

“Everybody has a little bit of the sun and moon in them. Everybody has a little bit of man, woman, and animal in them. Darks and lights in them. Everyone is part of a connected cosmic system. Part earth and sea, wind and fire, with some salt and dust swimming in them. We have a universe within ourselves that mimics the universe outside. None of us are just black or white, or never wrong and always right. No one. No one exists without polarities. Everybody has good and bad forces working with them, against them, and within them.” PART SUN AND MOON by Suzy Kassem
