Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri provides essential health care and education programs to more than 60,000 women, men, and teens each year, regardless of their personal circumstances or ability to pay. We’ve been building healthy communities since 1932 with the most important tool in medicine: accurate information that helps people make important decisions about their lives, health, and future. Our promise to our community is,

our story.

On June 13, 1932, twenty-three physicians and community leaders signed Articles of Association for the Maternal Health Association of Missouri, which later became Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri. The goal of these brave women and men was to improve the lives and health of women and their families, especially the poor. They envisioned a world in which all women had immediate and unfettered access to reproductive health care and information to control their own fertility and future. Most clients in the early decades were fitted for a diaphragm and counseled on its use—a simple but controversial service that revolutionized women’s ability to plan their families. The staff and board also opened a public lending library to give women, health

care providers and social workers factual information about family planning and sexual health. Now, more than 80 years later, 60,000 women, men, and teens of diverse backgrounds rely on Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri each year for comprehensive gynecologic, sexual and reproductive medical care, and sexual health education.

Your support helps to continue this legacy of service for future generations and helps us train and empower the next generation of medical professionals and leaders in the reproductive rights movement.

Care is planning for the future.

AT PLANNED PARENTHOOD, CARE IS MUCH MORE THAN THE SERVICES WE PROVIDE; IT IS THE WAY WE APPROACH OUR WORLD. WE CARE. DEEPLY. WITH RESPECT. WITHOUT JUDGEMENT. WE ARE UNWAVERING IN OUR BELIEF THAT ALL PEOPLE DESERVE HIGHQUALITY, AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE. WE ARE TIRELESS IN OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND INFORMATION SO PEOPLE CAN MAKE THEIR OWN HEALTH DECISIONS. WE PROUDLY FIGHT FOR WOMEN TO BE ABLE TO GET THE REPRODUCTIVE SERVICES THEY NEED. WE DO ALL OF THIS BECAUSE WE CARE PASSIONATELY ABOUT HELPING WOMEN, MEN, AND YOUNG PEOPLE LEAD HEALTHY LIVES. NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE. NO MATTER WHERE THEY LIVE. WE WILL DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO GET THEM THE CARE THEY NEED. BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THAT WHEN PEOPLE ARE TRULY CARED FOR, THEY WILL MAKE THEIR LIVES, THEIR FAMILIES – AND EVEN THE WORLD – BETTER AND HEALTHIER.
