2020 VISION

January has officially arrived, and while the world is looking ahead at a new year and a new decade, it feels like we here in South Florida have such a high-speed head start. While they’re making post-defrost plans, we’ve got South Beach to wander and global cuisines to sample during SOBEWFF. While they’re huddled and looking around on winter’s sidelines, we’ve got a couple Super Bowl parties to be seen at. While they’re waiting for a break to come in spring, we’ve seemingly caught all the breaks already. Actually, as South Floridians, we all know that building up this world-class, multilingual William P. Jordan III

home of ours isn’t just about luck; it has taken a lot of hard work. Fortunately, the rise of

the Brightline train has only made aspects of that work easier to accomplish. The ensuing rewards aren’t just awing; they are what have me energized in January,

inspired for 2020, and exhilarated for the decade ahead. I can’t wait to see you out there!

Contributors

Clarissa Buch is a nationally published writer and content consultant. She contributes regularly to Food & Wine, and her writing appears in Rachel Ray Every Day, Eventbrite, Travel + Leisure and more. She also collaborates with creative and advertising agencies on various projects for clients including Publix, Palace Resorts and Royal Caribbean.

Monica Lewman-Garcia is an accidental adventurer who has dived with hammerhead sharks and climbed Mt. Sinai to prove that she could. While she enjoys freelance writing as a side hustle, her primary gig is corporate media relations and crisis communications, where she earned the moniker “Florida PR Maven” from Tablet magazine.

Elizabeth Martinez is a former music and nightlife journalist whose love of writing is second only to her love for traveling and going on adventures. She finally found the courage to leave her upwardly mobile corporate job in order to follow her dream of returning to writing, visiting new places, and perfecting her photography skills.

Stacy Moya is a freelance writer and photographer for Eater, HuffPost, Go, Coral Gables Love and BestFoodFeed.com’s BestFoodMiami. When not writing or snapping photos, she enjoys recreating recipes from her favorite restaurants, spending time with her dog, and all things comical because, after all, laughter is the best medicine.
