Josh Dobson, Universal Security and Power Inn Alliance to host a half-day training on workplace crisis and preparedness. Sgt. Dobson instructed staff and students on potential lifethreatening situations and what to do for the best outcome. “After the training, we performed a drill and everyone

remembered what they learned. I was so proud of them.” said C.E.T. Director, Rachel Wickland.

Active Members Join to Make a Difference With over eight Committees, five Task Forces, and numerous events throughout the year, the Power Inn Alliance has member opportunities to peak everyone’s interest and 2014 is the year to become more involved!.

Committees span the realm from crime and security to planning and development issues. Additionally, several task forces work under committees focusing on both long-term and short-term projects; such as area branding and road improvements. The newest Task Force is Business Watch which works under the direction of the Crime and Code Committee chaired by Nick Sikich of Atlas Disposal in conjunction with Dawn Carlson, Program Manager for The Alliance. This group of business members works toward community awareness and locating resources for use in crime prevention. More fun committees include the Ambassador and Picnic at the Park Committees. A&A Concrete Keeps PBID Streets Clean The Power Inn Alliance appreciates the ongoing efforts of A&A Concrete Supply and their commitment to assist in the battle of street and bike lane debris. Thousands of vehicles, both large and small, travel each week throughout the area. Many of these vehicles are loaded to capacity with various materials which escape from their containers. Luckily for all the commuters and businesses operating in the area, A&A Concrete is voluntarily supplementing Sacramento City Street Sweeping Services. Ron Coburn, Site Manager at the A&A Concrete Supply facility on Berry Avenue, takes area pride to another level. According to Coburn “giving back to the community is as much a responsibility as a need to keep neighbors safe and the area looking good.” Coburn is a staunch supporter of The Alliance mission and a member of both the Planning and Business Development and Crime and Code committees. A&A Ready Mixed Concrete, Inc. was created in 1949 in Gardena, CA. Labor Law Seminars Return to The Alliance in 2014 As an added benefit for The Alliance membership, Labor Law Attorney David L. Cohen of Cohen Durrett, LLP returns to educate and address the current concerns surrounding today’s businesses.

In this three-part breakfast seminar series, designed for Business Owners and Managers, Cohen starts off with the very popular “The Tangled Web: 2014 Understanding the Interactive Process and Leave Laws” on April 9th; addressing the ever-changing world of rules, regulations and rights— for both employee and employer. The second seminar scheduled for May 14th will bring the truths and myths surrounding “Harassment & The Part You Play” and June 11th is a 2-for-1 Seminar surrounding “Wage & Hour Law” plus “Discipline & Discharge.” Seating and Registration is limited with discounted pricing for the 3-part seminar series: Members: 3 for $90 or $45 per seminar—includes breakfast.
