NO MORE METER READS!
EQUS is pleased to be able to announce that the installation of our Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is nearly complete. Beginning this month, there is no longer a need for any EQUS members to read their meter or send any information in for billing, the reading submitted in September was the last one! The new smart meters will record consumption every 15 minutes, and transmit that data to EQUS over a secure network. Each meter has a unique identification number which is included in the encrypted data, ensuring that the reading is linked to the correct account. The meters will also notify EQUS in the event of an outage, allowing EQUS staff to easily identify the affected areas and respond faster. Please continue reporting outages by phone, or in the MyEQUS mobile app and member portal to ensure a timely response. The meters will also share usage data that can help members better manage demand and help EQUS plan for system maintenance and growth. This innovative network is the first ultra-rural smart grid in Canada, and EQUS is proud to have the support of our members in the testing and deployment of these smart meters. We are looking forward to the conveniences and opportunities this system will provide for our co-operative in the future.
