A B O U T P OV E RT Y OV E R Poverty Over is concerned with raising awareness about Poverty in our World and then energizing people – primarily 14-30 year olds - to make a difference to the world they will inherit in the near future. Using the latest technologies, the internet and methods that are novel and creative, Poverty Over rests on the philosophy that even the smallest unit of effort can make a difference. Be it, telling your friend, volunteering for a minute, or donating a penny. Our world-wide projects include: building hospitals and orphan care homes, sponsoring students, caring for widows, installing water pumps, providing free health and medical services, and disaster relief when needed. i

W H Y VO L U N T E E R ? Many experienced volunteers eventually realize that volunteering offers opportunities like no other activity. 1. No volunteer leaves empty handed. With the right attitude, you will always gain vital skills and experiences valued by today’s Times 100 employers. These include essential soft skills such as self-confidence, communication, team-working and more technical skills depending on the projects you work on e.g., Marketing strategy, Promotion, I.T. 2. Volunteering is respected by employers. 3. It’s about giving something back to the world we share. If we examine our own skills; they are the result of people in our lives continuously giving something to us e.g., knowledge, education, advice, or training. Volunteering is about giving back to the world after taking from it. It’s

continuing that chain of giving. It’s reciprocating. Someone once said “Volunteering is a powerful force for social change”. 4. A wise scholar once remarked: ‘Things happen when those who complain they are not happening…make them happen’. Volunteering is about moving beyond the realm of words and into the realm of action. It’s about outputting benefit into the whole world. 5. Volunteering is like an apprenticeship. It offers you a chance to discover things about yourself and a professional platform to refine your existing skills. For instance, Poverty Over’s Graphics Designer, built his design skills over years of volunteering. i
