Since then, Avana’s management and staff have taken full advantage of the RRHBA’s many opportunities to network and learn. “Pretty much everything that they offer, we try to have somebody present from our company,” Denouden said. “They regularly have events and meetings. Some are more geared towards networking; some are more geared towards development and learning about different products or services; some are just for fun.” Some benefits, such as access to the Certi-
fied Professional Home Builder Program, have proven particularly valuable to a relatively new company like Avana. “We were really interested in completing that program anyway, so it worked out fabulous for us,” Denouden said. “We had actually paid for some of the courses already, and then they ended up offering the rest of them free of charge.”
More importantly, becoming part of the RRHBA has allowed Avana to fully participate in the home building community. “I just really think that you’re stronger when you’re part of a team. There are home

builders (in the RRHBA) that have been running companies for 40-plus years, and there are different suppliers and different people from our community,” Denouden said. “Where else can you go and have that many people that apply to your industry
in one room multiple times throughout the year? “We definitely believe in running an accredited and professional business, so it was a natural decision to become a part of the RRHBA,” Denouden said. “I had pretty high expectations of the Association, and they haven’t disappointed.” Learn more at www.avanahomes.com.
