SNOWMOBILE ADVENTURES One of Saskatchewan’s most popular winter activities is snowmobiling. The Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association maintains over 10,000 km of groomed trails across the province, through diverse landscapes, ranging from rolling parkland to river valleys to towering forests. The trail system is completely connected across the province, with good signage and numerous warm-up shelters. Snoriderswest.com recommends these communities as the province’s 10 best snowmobile destinations: Hudson Bay, Yorkton, North Battleford, Fort Qu’Appelle, Nipawin, Duck Mountain Provincial Park, Kelvington, Candle Lake, Preeceville and Chitek Lake. snowriderswest.com sasksnow.com

REEL ‘EM IN As temperatures drop and Saskatchewan’s thousands of lakes freeze over, clusters of ice fishing shacks begin to pop up on the ice, signaling the start of ice fishing season. Ice fishing can be as simple as cutting a hole in the ice and dropping in your line, or it can involve a sophisticated ice fishing hut that’s fully loaded with luxury amenities. Favourite ice fishing spots in the province include Tobin Lake, Diefenbaker Lake, the Qu’Appelle Lakes and Anglin Lake. Check the Tourism Saskatchewan website for information. tourismsaskatchewan.com. 4 | DESTINATION SASK ATCHE WAN WINTER 2018-2019 DESTINATION SASKATCHEWAN SUMMER 2017 4

We’re transforming the gallery experience. The MacKenzie Art Gallery is Saskatchewan’s original public art gallery: an immersive centre for engaging people through transformative experiences of the world through art. Today at the MacKenzie, we are working on re-imagining what an art museum in the 21st century can be. We want the gallery to be a deeply engaging experience where you can stimulate all your senses, and go away recharged, inspired, challenged, informed and transformed. Located within Treaty Four territory, we are committed to nurturing and fostering meaningful support for Indigenous artists and communities.

“The exciting thing about the MacKenzie is just this incredible energy, passion, and willingness to push the envelope, to take risks, to not really settle for what we know works, but get outside of our comfort zone, to try new things that push us all forward.” — John Hampton, newly appointed Director of Programs for the MacKenzie Art Gallery.
