A wry portrait of geeks, oddballs & visionaries who are obsessed with the Moon.

An original, visually arresting drama with supernatural elements by Portland artist M Blash.

With humour and affection, this entertaining documentary follows a disparate group of dreamers and schemers who have devoted their lives to the Moon. You’ll meet Christopher, who wants to be the first human to leave for the Moon with a one-way ticket, Apollo Astronaut Alan Bean, one of the 12 men to have set foot there, Dennis, who makes a living selling Lunar real estate, and many more.

An enigmatic phone call from a psychic catapults a family into a state of suspended belief while waiting for their recently deceased mother to be resurrected. One sister believes the claim, the other staunchly opposes it until she encounters a chance at love, giving her hope that anything is possible.

A moving, often hilarious portrait of passion, inventiveness and quixotic dreams, Lunarcy! keeps its tongue lodged firmly in cheek. With a deft hand and a light-hearted approach, director Simon Ennis brings everyone in on the joke without mocking his subjects. We have a lot to learn from these dedicated daydreamers who often make a strange kind of sense.

Exploring the altered, de-codified behaviours brought about by grief, M Blash (Cannes 2006’s Lying) finds beauty and redemption in that inbetween space in which we can act out our wildest emotions and briefly redefine ourselves. Oscillating to the electronic sounds of Canadian musician Owen Pallett, The Wait is a cryptic, haunting and strangely cathartic film. Official selection SxSW Film Festival 2013
