ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS FOR THE BRAVE. BY TORI TORRES
"An entrepreneur is an individual who starts and runs a business with limited resources and planning, and is responsible for all the risks and rewards of his or her business venture. The business idea usually encompasses a new product or service rather than an existing business model." Investopedia
Entrepreneurship is for the brave, The proud. The hopeful. The dreamers & doers at once. It's for the passionate & the driven. Entrepreneurship if for those who would defy everything they've been told; and try anyway. We're celebrating our first year today at DGTM.
ONE YEAR ISSUE
ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS FOR THE BRAVE. Here, we celebrate the crazy and brilliant individuals who would take on the terror and thrill of entrepreneurship. It's been 12 months of meeting some of the most incredible women I've ever met. Most of them not famous or rich in accolades. (not yet, anyway, wait for it...). But everyday women with dreams and hearts full of desire and commitment. Those with the promise of possibility in their eyes. These are the women we've had the distinct pleasure of meeting and serving through our publication. And as we publish bi-monthly in the coming 12 months, we look forward to serving and meeting even more of you.Â

Believe in longevity BY WENDY MAIER
I'm a much more diligent worker than I give myself credit for. That's reflection number one. This month marks a full year that I decided to work with the type of drive and determination that produces real results. Looking back, I couldn't be happier that I went for it. In the previous years that I've been an entrepreneur, I didn't have quite the drive and determination that I've had over the last 12 months. The energy and passion I have been fueled by are undeniable and have become an almost tangible partner throughout my work day. A plan of action was the first realistic step forward. An exact blueprint with a deadline attached has been the key to the progress I've made and the goals that I've accomplished within such a short time frame.Â
Believe in longevity BY WENDY MAIER
The race to sustainability was worth it. Well worth it. I've been able to build a business that I've always wanted. I run the social media agency of my dreams because I leveled up and got the business training and networking support that it takes to create the focus and strategic plan to succeed. The baby steps along the way added up to huge milestones. Being able to see what I've built from the ground up has meant the world to me. I recognize the amount of progress I've made within the last year, and it reaffirms my belief in how far beyond my wildest dreams my brand is capable of going. Every decision and the progress that I make today determines how successful tomorrow will be. When I plan, I'll plan for the future; but when I work, I'll work like it's my last day to get there. The elevator only goes up from here. “I welcome the challenges each new opportunity will bring.”

ARE YOU HUNGRY? OR DO YOU JUST WANT TO EAT? By Jamie Newton
This is the question that I ask my 18-year-old son, who plays football, when I see him slacking or going through selfdoubt. When I say this to him, I am encouraging him to push forward because for the things in life that we truly desire, we must learn to push for them.
IF YOU HAVE AN “I JUST WANT TO EAT” DESIRE AND YOU PUT IN MINIMAL EFFORT, THEN YOU WILL GET MINIMAL RESULTS.
However, if you tackle it with an “I’m hungry” desire and you put forth a great deal of effort, then the results will get you more than you imagined. All it takes is the effort, the desire, THE HUNGER! As a parent, I’m always telling my children little sayings to push them towards their dreams and when I least expect it… It comes back to bite me because in my moments of doubt, they always say, “Remember what you told us mom?” LOL So where do you stand in this moment in your life?
Are the challenges in your Blended family becoming heavy? Are you still reeling from the pain of your past relationship? Are the boundaries consistently being tested? If you answered YES to one or more of these questions then my question to you is this; ARE YOU HUNGRY or do you just want to eat? If you are ready to move forward because you are STARVING for things to get better in your Blended Situation...let’s talk! Click here to talk to Jamie, @blendedblackfamily
“CELEBRATE YOUR SMALL WINS” BY: ANDRIENNE KENNEDY IG @BEAUTIFULBRAINCOLLECTIVE
While I have been on this entrepreneurial journey with my mental health blog Beautiful Brain Collective for the last year, this has not been my first encounter with entrepreneurship. I had an online vintage clothing store, and another online venture that sold plus size clothing.
I had a brief stint as a fashion blogger as well. There were so many other business ideas that I dare not say. I took classes on how to set up and run a business. What I do know is that I have always been attracted to the idea of being in business and running a business and being successful.
With each venture, I learned something. Although these things didn’t seem like lessons at the time. Setting up and running a business is a constant learning experience. You must be open to take away some of the lessons that you will learn along the way.
They will help you when you least expect it! You must also know when something is or is not working, as well as your business and management style. All the these are so important when you are trying to find your way as an entrepreneur. One of the greatest lessons that I have learned over the past year is to “celebrate your small wins”. Small consistent wins over time will equal large results. It is okay to congratulate yourself when you make one sale, figure out how to use a new program, or make positive contact with a possible lead.
The adrenaline rush from celebrating what seems to be a small win only fuels you to keep going and keep pushing forward. Your business is never going to be “complete”, but more like a work in progress that is ever growing and ever changing. Those celebrations give us fuel to keep on the journey until we reach our destination. Celebrate! Even when you think it is not necessary. Entrepreneurship is a journey and not a destination. Enjoy the view along the way! Click Here To learn more about Beautiful Brain Collective
We started weekly meal prep when I was in Grad School and working full time. And It's one habit we have kept. You know why?? Because it allows us the freedom to provide myself and my family with healthy meals.
The idea of having to prepare meals can create an extreme amount of anxiety. Not only anxiety, but the temptation to just stop and pick up fast food. It's so much easier some days to just take the easier route.
The end result of frequent Fast Food can be poor financial state, and poor health just to name a few.

PURPOSE A REFLECTION FROM OUR CREATOR, TORI TORRES, CEO @THEPOSHGIRLSCLUB
Last year, exactly to the day I celebrated my birthday with a tribute to my Grandmother. She died last year as I was creating this magazine & solidifying my place in the digital publication world. I launched on my birthday, as a celebration of life & possibility. For many of us, it's moments like these that are so profound in our lives where we're most challenged to tap into our purpose.
I truly believe this with every part of my soul. It's in these heart-breaking moments that we're forced to fall into the trap of pity and woeful circumstance; or tap into our potential while we have breath and capability. Losing my Gram was the moment that I declared I wanted to create something profound; a space for female entrepreneurs across all race, religion, & sociological barriers to connect and grow and tap into the greatest parts of themselves. THAT'S WHAT I'VE ACCOMPLISHED THIS YEAR.Â
When I began this journey, I was initially focused on how I could make a mark and impact on the world. How I could leave a name and a legacy behind that would go beyond just my family & small circle. I got something so much bigger over this year that I never expected; which we always do when open ourselves to it.Â
What I received was so much bigger than that. Instead of thinking about what I could leave behind & accomplish. It grew into "what can I help others create, too?" Instant shift. I no longer see the world as mine to conquer. I see it as a place to create & build communities that thrive off of the wins of the whole. We have a community that thrives on this idea, called The Socialite. Business Besties, cheering one another on, while we build empires from the Resources within the Private, Members only website. And I'd love to see you in there... You can learn more about us here.
