Share the magnificent art of a premier theater production with

Portland

Center Stage at

THE A R M O RY 2017 2018 SEASON 32

Share the magnificent art of a premier theater production with Portland Center Stage at the Armory. PCS is the largest theater company in Portland & one of the top 20 regional theater companies in the country. PCS "inspires our community by bringing stories to life in unexpected ways" with a mix of contemporary & classic productions. The Armory is a beautifully renovated building on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the first performing arts venue in the country to be certified LEED Platinum (the top tier of environmentally sustainable building practices).

PDX Center Stage: Astoria

From the Portland Center Stage Playbill: "This harrowing dual journey – one over land, one by sea – will be told with an exceptional cast of sixteen actors. At a time when the edge of American settlement barely reached beyond the Appalachian Mountains, two visionaries – President Thomas Jefferson & millionaire John Jacob Astor – foresaw that one day the Pacific would dominate world trade as much as the Atlantic did in their day. Just two years after the Lewis & Clark Expedition concluded in 1806, Jefferson & Astor turned their sights westward once again. Thus began one of history's dramatic but largely forgotten turning points in the conquest of the North American continent. Mobility Rating: This trip is accessible to those using mobility devices including walkers, wheelchairs, & motorized scooters. Door-to-door destination. PART 1 Showtime is at 7:30pm. Program price includes ticket. Bring money for dinner nearby before the show. This production is Part 1 of a 2-part series. PDX Center Stage: Magic Play

PCS bills this production as: "A theater is a realm of illusion. So is a magic show. Playwright Andrew Hinderaker mashes these traditions together with alluring results. The Magic Play follows a young magician trying to get through a live show just hours after his partner has left him. As the performance progresses, he confronts the fact that the spectacular tricks that impress people on stage don't serve him as well when it comes to building truthful personal relationships. This mesmerizing new play questions the extent to which we must be honest with ourselves in order to be so with those we love." Mobility Rating: Accessible to mobility devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, & motorized scooters. Door-todoor destination. Showtime is at 12:00pm. Program price includes ticket.
