MEET OUR TEACHERS!

JAMIE MAYFIELD Jamie was born and raised in Portland Oregon. She has been around Portland Parks & Recreation all her life. From swimming lessons and other activities as a kid to volunteering as a teen and then employment in after school programs. She taught swimming lessons at East Portland Community Center while she went to college at WOU getting a degree in education and earning an early childhood and elementary teaching license. In 2016 she found a new work home at Peninsula Park Community Center where she started teaching preschool for little ones. At home Jamie loves spending time at home with her amazing cat and fiancĂŠ. She enjoys learning new things such as how to play the Harry Potter theme song on the ukulele and finding new things to craft/fix using her sewing machine.

KATHERINE BEAVER Teacher Katie grew up in Poulsbo, WA and moved around quite a bit as a child and adult. She has spent time living in Mexico and traveling to Romania, Tanzania, and Ecuador. Through her travels she has gained a global perspective and strives to bring the world into her classroom. Katie has worked for parks since 2011 and has worked primarily at Peninsula and St. Johns as a preschool lead and inclusion one on one. Peninsula Park holds a big spot in her heart as this is where Katie works, got married, and has a daughter who takes classes frequently. When not at PPCC Katie enjoys doing projects with her daughter, promoting children’s literacy, traveling, and going to the coast with her family.
