Kanha & Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge


Day 1

In October I drove 4 hrs from Khajuraho to fourteen thatched twin-bedded cottages within walking distance of Bandhavgarh National Park’s main gate.

Day 2

Jungle excursions are held at dawn and dusk accompanied by highy competent resident naturalists which lasts for 3-4 hours each. I spotted a Tigeress with a cub!


Day 3

After the star gazing session and identifying some magnificent planets through the lodge’s telescope, we were entertained by local tribal people.

Day 4

Drove for 4.5hrs from Bandhavgarh to Kanha to be greeted by a wonderful family of Tarun and Dimple who go an extra mile to make the stay comfortable and memorable.


Day 5

I went on an elephant through thick bamboo forest, streams and meadows to spot tiger. I even learnt to make “roti� for myself in cookery class.


Day 6

Last day of my trip, on this 11 acre estate I sipped my morning coffee with chirping of birds, a Langur monkey and even a few strolling spotted deer in my backyard.


Kailash Sankhala “Tiger Man of India� 1925-1994, best known for his work in preserving tigers, and was involved in the formation of Project Tiger, a conservation programme set up in India in 1973 under the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
