The town of Takoma Park is a tight knit community. The site is a back parking lot of a restaurant that is uninviting. The design is based on the relationship and the history that has already preexisted in the town. The building promotes interaction between program Cycled!, Filter coffee shop, and bike repair shop. Movement is emphasized through the connection between the outside space with a ramp and the circulation space inside.

There is an auditorium for the students of the Astro Physics Department in the double height center space. During the night, the students can go out to the wooden porch with equipment to look out at the stars. The exhibit room has a space to project what the telescope captures. The room leads to the center room where the telescope stands. Beyond the glass wall in front of the telescope is a outdoor walkway.
