Bra Recycling! You can already recycle most of your waste with Hertsmere’s kerbside collections and local recycling banks but now women can even recycle their bras! New recycling banks specifically for bras have been installed across the borough. They are bright pink so you won’t be able to miss them! Some of the bras collected will be sent to women in poorer countries. The rest will be recycled and the money donated to the Breast Cancer Campaign. Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, said: “This is a fantastic project and it just shows that you can recycle just about everything!

By recycling your bras not only will less waste be sent to landfill but women in poorer countries will benefit and you will be helping to fund research into breast cancer. “ “So next time you pop out to the shops or the gym, or go to your local recycling centre, take your old bras with you and drop them in one of the pink banks. You really can’t miss them!” Bra banks are located at: Potters Bar area office at the Wyllyotts Centre, Darkes Lane - in reception. Furzefield Leisure Centre, Mutton Lane, Potters Bar - in the women’s changing rooms and in the car park.
