More Student Voice opportunities at Pool

If you look closely around school you will see pupils in all year groups proudly wearing one or maybe more of the badges shown in the picture. This means that they are a student leader within that department or a peer mentor / student researcher. All leaders will get to organize their own projects, whether it’s a primary school festival or reviewing lessons and feeding back to teachers. Leaders will get to work with their old primary schools organizing lessons, festivals and workshops. They also receive a certificate which demonstrates to future colleges and employers their leadership and commitment. If you want to be a leader it’s never too late to join up. Please see your teacher or Mr Webb for further details and make the most of the fantastic opportunities available within Student Leadership. Detailed below are the awards that students can achieve.

Pool Students aspire to dreamy heights of Oxford

Ten students have recently visited Oxford University to take part in the Investigating Options programme which included lectures at various different colleges such as Brasenose, St John’s and Exeter to get a flavour of what studying at Oxford would be like. Jenny Gilby (Yr 11) said ‘this trip has convinced me that I want to apply to a university like Oxford. I know that I’ll need to get the very best grades so I’m determined to do my best.

Well done for attendance Every day makes a difference and September has been the best attendance on record. There are more pupils with 100% attendance than there has ever been before so well done to all those people. It really does make a difference to the grades you get overall: 90% attendance many sound pretty good but it means you could end up losing out on a whole grade in your classes. We’re here to help and if you’ve got worries about lates or attendance, let us know before it gets really bad. It’s a crime to stay off school and parents have ended up in court because it’s seen as so important. Again, well done to those who are turning up every day; keep it going.
