Port Moody Arts Centre’s Winter Spring 2010 Programs! Explore the “Heart of the Arts” at Port Moody Arts Centre. As we enter this New Year, this New Decade and this time of Sport and Spectacle, Port Moody Arts Centre is the place to grow. We will enrich your experiences and leave you inspired, resourceful, innovative, productive and ready to take on the challenges the world has to offer. From preschool programs in art, drama and music to specialty arts programming for mature adults (55yrs+), we provide programming to encourage creative growth in people of all ages and stages. Highly qualified music instructors offer individual programs in Flute, Music Theory, Piano and Voice at times to fit your schedule, as well as group classes in Beginner Guitar. In our pottery studios, talented instructors guide small classes through the wonders of the potters’ wheel and hand building to making human and animal masks, tiles and garden features. And for young people, we offer after school clay, children’s pottery, clay for home school as well as youth pottery. Visual artists/instructors offer a comprehensive variety of programs for beginners through advanced, for all ages, during daytime, evenings and on weekends. In 2010 we are introducing the following programs for children: Applied Arts for Children (and for Youth); Art By Design!; Drawing, Painting & Collage (Sundays); Exciting Landscapes and Painting on Canvas (Youth). And for adults: Introduction to Jewelry Model Making; Pattern Design & Dressmaking; Stained Glass; Sunday Art Workshops (55yrs+) and Wire Crochet Jewelry. Volunteer Opportunities Support the Arts in Your Community The Port Moody Arts Centre is looking for creative and energetic people to volunteer at our events throughout the year from gallery displays and openings to festivals and special events. We are looking for volunteers (14yrs+) to be teaching assistants at our Art Camps, Festivals & Birthday Parties. For young people we offer letters of recognition that can be used towards volunteer credits for school. Volunteering is often that first step towards gaining such skills as time management, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, and organization, and experience that can lead towards your first job.
