HOME INTRAVENOUS PHARMACY BERKELEY, CA

Polytech Associates provided full pharmacy planning, architectural and interior design services for the remodel of a 3,800 sf first floor warehouse into a home intravenous pharmacy in Berkeley, CA. The current laboratory did not meet regulatory standards and the equipment for each department was placed inefficiently. The new facility provides for adequate space so that clinical departments, including microbiology, hematology, urinalysis, and chemistry have individual spaces that house the equipment relative to their function, thereby creating a more efficient work environment. Our design team developed a six-phase, two-year schedule, which allowed the laboratory to remain fully operational during construction. The project was designed to meet LEED Silver specifications as per Kaiser’s Green Guide to Healthcare. Project Features • Laboratory planning, interior architecture and interior design • Features individual spaces for compounding, assembly, storage and administration, giving these departments a more efficient work environment • Interior finishes and furnishings were selected to mitigate the effects of a nearly windowless space • Six-phase, two-eyar schedule, allowing the laboratory to remain functional during construction • Designed to meet LEED Silver Standards

DNA EXTRACTION LABORATORY BERKELEY, CA

Polytech Associates provided interior architecture and interior design services for a 5,500 sf DNA Extraction Laboratory in Berkeley, CA. The expanded space allows researchers to store 500,000 blood and saliva samples in a database for disease prevention and genetic studies. An important component of our scope of work was the development of a ventilation system that will keep the correct percentage of oxygen in the air in the event of a liquid nitrogen spill. An alarm system that will signal users to evacuate the laboratory was also incorporated. Project Features • Adaptive reuse for 5,500 sf laboratory allowing researchers to store blood and saliva samples for disease preventiona and genetic studies • Spaces for ambient storage and cryogenic storage incorporated into laboratory planning • Ventilation system to balance Oxygen in air • Provide optimum working conditions in a windowless space • Designed to LEED Silver Standards • Phased construction allowing adjacent laboratories to remain operational
