Their unique calibration avoids the need for data alignment and their multiple baselines increase accuracy when measuring points. AUTOMATED REPORTS

Surround 3D scanners differs from other stereo 3D scanners because they do not require moving the scanning unit(s) with respect to the object to gather all the required measurements. This avoids the need for robotic arm, external positioning devices, data alignment, registration, merging and trajectory programming. Furthermore, the immobility of the surround scan-

Automated reports means no user intervention once scanning is triggered up to the completed inspection report. First, part identification is obtained from the barcode readout that triggers the scan. Operator identification is also known from its login into the PolyScan software. Both data automatically appears in the report.

Moreover, the calibration of all scanning units as a single entity not only outputs data in a single reference frame (thus avoiding error prone data alignment), but also enables multi-baseline triangulation which increases measurement accuracy.

The data output is compatible with all major 3D processing software as it comes in a standard XYZ + normals + RGB color file format. Complete integration with PolyWorks® by InnovMetric  is provided to leverage its inspection capabilities. Statistical process control, multi-part inspection and GD&T are handled easily.
