There is a vital link between architecture and culture Thus, uniting the distinct architectural character of Mactan and Clark International Airport with the proposed redeveloped NAIA would make an identity for Filipino Aviation Architecture As travelers move through airports, they experience a series of different environments – from the bustling street outside to the terminal building, and finally to their gate Each of these spaces has its own unique atmosphere and design
The Philippines is called Asia's pearl of the orient for the richness of its culture and beauty of its landscapes Therefore, the Copen+Hagen team chose to use the clam's shell as the design inspiration for its shape Airport architecture has evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of travelers In the early days of aviation, airports were simply open fields where planes could take off and land But as air travel became more popular, airports needed to be able to accommodate larger numbers of passengers and airplanes
Today, airport design is all about creating an efficient and enjoyable travel experience To do this, architects need to consider everything from the flow of traffic to the location of amenities And with more people traveling than ever before, it's more important than ever to get airport design right The group decided to use Urban Oasis design This involves creating green spaces within the airport terminal that can provide travelers with a moment of calm amidst the chaos of air travel These oases can take many different forms, from small gardens to large parks
