Craigdarroch Castle, 1050 Joan Crescent, is a national historic site that is a stunning example of Victorian architecture. The castle includes exquisite stained-glass windows, woodwork and period antiques. This legendary Victorian mansion, built between 1887 and 1890 on a hill overlooking Victoria, announced to the world that coal baron Robert Dunsmuir was the richest and most important man in Western Canada. The castle gives visitors a glimpse of privileged life in the 1890s. Operated by a nonprofit charity, proceeds from admission fund the ongoing restoration of the castle.
