Art gallery holds Christmas tea party Staff report
Fifty-two people packed into the Sidney Art Gallery and Museum on Saturday for the annual Christmas High Tea. Members of the Sidney Museum and Arts Association (SMAA) and their guests attended the event, according to Pam Heinrich, museum art director. Attendees had to select a tea cup set that was used during the event. The menu consisted of scones with raspberry jam and Devonshire cream, delectable sandwiches and savory desserts with raspberry. Earl Grey and other teas were served by Jud Turner and Abe Porter, along with the Fathoms o’Fun princesses who helped serve. The SMAA Board of Directors were responsible for getting the donated baskets for the silent auction. One of the tea baskets was donated by Bobbie Stewart of the Olde Central Antique Mall, while Mallory Jackson of Custom Picture Framing donated a print and gift certificate, Heinrich said. The board also provided the china for the place settings and gave handmade tree-shaped napkins as a gift for each guest. This year, there was a drawing for a Marti Green framed print and proceeds for the drawing go to the SMAA’s annual Olga “Toni” Nelson Art Scholarship. Anne Pickens, who was in attendance at the tea, won the drawing. The next High Tea is scheduled for June.
