2010 ISTANBUL MARATHON SPONSORSHIP FORM Thank you for supporting the Paul Nabil Bustany Fund for Synovial Sarcoma Research. This year’s fourth annual fundraising event is the Istanbul Marathon on October 17, 2010. The marathon offers PNB Fund supporters a unique experience to run from Asia to Europe in one of the most historic cities in the world, while raising critical funds to support synovial sarcoma research. We’d like to raise as much money as possible before the marathon, but will also accept donations year-round. No amount is too small. Please encourage your family, friends, colleagues, neighbors and teammates to make a donation based on your run. You may also wish to set a fundraising target for yourself and ask your sponsors to help you meet it. Make checks payable to: The Paul Nabil Bustany Fund for Synovial Sarcoma Research. Donations can also be made online: www.pnbustanyfund.org. The PNB Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible. NAME & ADDRESS
To help you raise sponsorship funds, you may wish to refer to some of these important facts about synovial sarcoma and the PNB Fund: Synovial sarcoma is presently an incurable form of cancer that afflicts hundreds of young people each year, ages 15 to 35, most of whom die within a few years of becoming ill. Synovial sarcoma is most often located close to the big joints of the arm and leg, but have been documented in most human tissues and organs, including the brain, prostate and heart. Due to its location, researchers believe there is something in the surrounding fluid/tissue that feeds it. Because there is a paucity of research, even relatively small projects can significantly increase the knowledge base of the disease and lead to potentially substantial progress and treatment. The purpose of the PNB Fund is to raise money for basic scientific research on synovial sarcoma. At present, we are the only private fund that we know of that supports research for synovial sarcoma. Since our founding in 2006, the PNB Fund has donated over $300,000 to support synovial sarcoma research. The primary recipients have included the Utah Medical School and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The PNB Fund is run exclusively by volunteers, so every dollar donated goes directly to synovial sarcoma research. For more information, visit our website: www.pnbustanyfund.org.
