Alumni and Association News New Leadership with a Familiar Face The Association’s Executive Committee accepted the resignation of UNOIAA President Lenny Kopowski last week. Still a strong UNO advocate and close Association friend, Mr. Kopowski will continue to support UNO through other channels, and we wish him success in his new endeavors. Fortunately for the Association, qualified leadership was close at hand. Recognizing the importance of continuity and experience during this period of heavy transition, the Executive Committee expressed gratitude to Immediate Past President Sid Degan for agreeing to extend his service to the University and the Association by remaining Association President throughout the remainder of the 2010-2011 term. Make a Difference The Sandbar Heats up! It’s not just the music that’s heating up the Sandbar! When the music stops, it’s the sound of construction that we’re most excited about. More than five years after Katrina, state and federal funds are finally in place and construction is moving quickly to rebuild the Cove, future home of a new and improved Sandbar. Restore the Cove aims to help UNO reopen The Cove and The Sandbar by spring 2011! But before UNO can move The Jazz @ the Sandbar Series back to its rightful home, additional funds are needed to furnish and landscape the facility. Remember your cove? A gathering spot, the most popular dining facility on campus, a place to study, collaborate, and hang out. As former students, alumni know better than anyone how important campus life is to student success. That’s why the Association is launching Restore the Cove as Phase one of its new Campus Restoration Campaign. Watch for more details, coming soon and learn more at www.unoalumni.com.
