Gloves and snacks will be provided to those who volunteer their time to remove invasive species from Tynehead Regional Park in Surrey this Sunday morning (July 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). The event offers a chance to help reclaim the forest floor for native flowers. Volunteers should meet at Serpentine Hollow, at the 161st Street entrance to the park, off 103rd or 102nd Avenue. New dean of arts at Kwantlen Kwantlen Polytechnic University has announced the appointment of Dr. Diane Purvey as dean, faculty of arts, effective Aug. 1. She joins Kwantlen from Thompson Rivers University, where her most recent appointment was as chair of the school of education, in the faculty of human, social and educational development. Purvey is the coDr. Diane Purvey author and co-editor of three books on aspects of British Columbia’s social history, the most recent being Vancouver Noir, 1930-1960.
