hat started in 1912 as an agricultural fair has grown to become the biggest event of the year in Aldergrove. And to mark the 99th anniversary of Aldergrove Fair Days, organizers have put on more attractions and activities. The goal is to have fun so there are things to do for all different ages. A highlight is always the parade, which is at 10 a.m. on Saturday. It brings everyone together to enjoy the floats, bands, youth groups, distinctive autos and more before everyone scatters to the many activities and attractions. New sponsors have come on board so that more is on offer. That includes the Mobile Farm. Despite Langley still being an agricultural community, there are plenty of people who don’t realize where their food comes from, without such displays. As well, horsepower of the nonfarm variety will be showcased at the first annual Aldy Show ‘n Shine Classic Car Event.

The Kidzone gives families a place to allow their kids one-stop shopping for all the things kids care about – face painting, balloons, games, Langley Township firefighters, magic, mini golf, and more. Kids of all ages can enjoy the West Coast Amusements midway. One of the most unusual events is expected to be GloWorks. Sponsored by the Aldergrove Kinsmen, there will be thousands of glowsticks used. It’s slated for 8 p.m. on the Saturday. As with any big community event, there will be lots of grub when it’s time to eat and one of the popular events is the Chili Cook-off on Saturday. Cooking gets started in the morning with Langley Advance files the judging at 3 p.m. A midway, contests, hands-on activities, displays and more will be at the 99th annual Back again is the Meal or Aldergrove Fair Days July 22-24.
