By Malcolm Soine Decades of dreaming about a Parkland community park and recreation area have at last materialized into a 13.· acre combination playground and Round-up ground. It has been made possible by the magnificent foresight and generosity of one of Parkl&nd's residents, J. H. Gonyea. Tbe 13-acre tract bordering Jay street between Tule Lake road and 138th street has been leased by the Parkland Business club with provisions that a play. ground and community building be developed with the proceeds of the annual Parkland Roundup The Round-up grounds will spread over approximately onethird of the south end of the 1500 foot tract. The park area will eventually include a com· munity building, soft ball and baseball diamonds, tennis cou:-ts, volley ball courts, badminton courts, wading pool, and auto parking· area. Through the donated labor of members of the ParkJand Business club, the Round-up, rodeo, and horse show arena .is already taking shape Posts were put in the groun!i last week and soon the fences and grandstand area will be taking form Throughout the coming year, help will be solicited from the local community organizations to provide the labor for improv • ing the park area with the bulk of the cost of material coming from the Round-up proceeds.

Attorneys Form Local Law Firm R. L. Peters and S. J. Witt have opened law offices in Park· land, directly across from the National Bank building at 11222 Pacific Avenue; phone GR. 4900. Prior to forming the partnership, Peters was an attorney here with an insurance firm, and Witt practiced law in Seattle. Both are University Law School graduates. Time.s-Journal Parkland, Washington I want to express the thanks. of the district, the .Board, the organization and myself for the wondenful cooperation yqur paper gave us in our recent election. Although we were not entire· ·ly . successful in all measures, we were successful in getting out the required number of voters and we know that your paper did much toward making this possible.
