TIPS TO KICK OFF A
We have so many things to do - work, family, home, kids, groceries - and whether we admit it or not, we all want to look good. I’m not talking fashion, I’m talking style!
Think about your favorite tia when you describe her to someone you wouldn’t talk about her clothes, you would mention her laughter, or that she always wants to feed you and that she always has a great joke. All of these things are part of her style, and also what makes her your favorite aunt. But wait, aren’t fashion and beauty part of style? ¡Claro que si! So don’t worry, you’ll get tips on those too, for example, don’t worry about what’s “in”, focus on what works for you. Take skinny jeans. They are everywhere, except my closet. Skinny jeans are for skinny girls. Since I’m neither of those, I wear boot-cut jeans. But I digress; let’s talk about your new beginning!

This month I want to concentrate on the two best things you can do to kick off a stylish year:
Get your hair done and
Clean out your closet
Getting your hair done, whether it’s a trim or a whole new style is a very simple step that has a great and lasting impact, and you don’t have to break the bank. Some upscale salons offer trims from junior hairdressers for as little as $20. No tengas pena, call and ask! This way you can get the feel of the fancy salon, without paying big bucks. Also, make the investment and get your color done professionally. It will last about three times longer than an at-home color, and is gentler on your hair. If you don’t have a favorite hairdresser, you can usually find a deal at www.groupon.com to keep your tresses stylish through spring! Next, the dreaded closet… if you can tell me with a straight face that you absolutely love everything in your closet, stop reading and enjoy the rest of the magazine, otherwise, stay with me. When you have an event, what’s your go-to outfit? Do this, grab the outfit you love and look at yourself in the mirror. Then grab another outfit and if you don’t feel that same way, give it away or get it tailored (most drycleaners have a seamstress). With these two simple steps you can achieve two major changes to boost a new beginning for you in 2012. Once you do that, you’ll notice how every time you look in the mirror or open your closet will be a confirmation of what you already know about yourself: you are a decisive, powerful and overall stylish! XOXO!

tyle is something that surpasses fashion. It’s a part of who you are, and what makes you special. We all have a personal style, just think about it.
