e are in an election year and that’s why I want to invite you to reflect on the importance of voting. Many times we don’t give the importance voting has for each of us, but especially for us as Latinos, especially since after years of hard work and effort many of us have achieved our American citizenship.

VOTING is our duty and

our right!

Voting is our duty, but more important, it is our right and we should take advantage of the privilege of having a voice. With that voice, we have the opportunity to choose a person who can make the changes we cannot. This person, chosen by us, is our representative who knows our needs and his/her duty is to fight for the causes that concern us. At this time when politicians are the ones with the power to change the life of the citizens, it is important to know who the people are that implement these changes. For changes to benefit all of us, we should make sure we know who the candidates are and what the values are that move them; to know which one of them is in line with our ideals and demonstrates to be the most capable to do the job.

The decision is in our hands and it’s one we cannot leave in the hands of others. We have a voice and we should demonstrate that it is sufficiently strong to make a change for our own good. The Latino vote will be decisive when November comes; it is our duty to get educated during this process to make a well-informed decision. And on Election Day, get up, go out and vote. LET’S USE OUR RIGHT AND FULFILL OUR DUTY!
