Overview

. . . Welcome to PlayNow Leagues! PlayNow Leagues is a revolutionary web based all-in-one sports media, tracking, and scouting solution. Delivering tools and features you can actually use! As a PlayNow user, you will find we have eliminated the separation of athletics and academics. A solution that simply does not leave any steps out. What makes the PlayNow system for you? Aside from the fact that PlayNow is completely customizable to your needs, we have gone to great lengths to bring daily tasks of coaches, educators, players and scouts, all under one roof.

Website Layout Before we begin learning about all the features PlayNow Leagues has to offer, we are going to take a brief moment to go through some basic website layout terminology used throughout this manual. PlayNow Leagues has hundreds of selections available in a very organized manner, but if you are having trouble finding a particular feature, we want you to have all the tools you will need to locate it.

Header

A header is commonly referred to as the top of a website. As you click through menus, the site content changes, but the header does not. The specifics will be different for almost every website on the internet. The PlayNow Leagues header consists of our logo, the type of league (college/high school/etc.) that you belong to, the navigation bar, and a banner featuring the name of your team along with a team image.

Navigation ‘Menu’ Bar

The PlayNow Leagues navigation bar is found on the header. This is how you will transport between the features of the site. You will see options such as „Home‟, „My PlayNow‟, „Videos‟, and more. It is because of the navigation bar‟s importance that most of the other manual chapters are broken down the same way that they appear on the bar.

Page 7

Menu Types

The Navigation Bar is a perfect example of a menu. Menus are easy enough to point out, but here are the different types…

Figure 1

 Navigation Menu- „Figure1‟ is an image of the navigation bar from an administrator‟s view. This type of menu, where you select from a horizontal bar and is the header of a page or window, is called a navigation bar.  Drop-Down Menu- A drop-down menu stands for having a menu whose content appears by “dropping-down” a list of choices after hovering over the category name. A good example is again, the navigation bar. You will find that not all of the “tabs” on the navigation bar are just simply tabs. As you can see in „Figure2‟ on the right, by hovering over „Videos‟, a list of options drop-down for your selection. „Videos‟ itself is not clickable, only the dropped options are, but never assume that to always be the case.

Sections

Section, in this manual, refers to a particular collection of information. In „Figure3‟, you will find a screen-shot off the „My PlayNow‟ page. Four categories are easily spotted… „Members‟, „Videos‟, „Search‟, and „Latest Groups‟. Each of these categories is a section.

Figure 2

Figure 3

Page 8

Footer Footers, as seen in „Figure4‟, are commonly referred to as the bottom of a website. Much like a header, footers do not change as you explore the website. The PlayNow Leagues footer consists of a copy-write notice, a link to our „Help & Support‟ page, a „Scroll To Top‟ option to jump you back to the top of the page you are on, and a link to show you specifics about the security of the website. Naturally, we have secured everything on our system, and you are always welcome to check it out if you chose to do so.

Figure 4

User account views Every user of the system is given a classification based on what they are allowed to see and change on the system. Sense not every user will be allowed access to all the features of the system, you will only be allowed to view what you do have access to. This portion of the manual will quickly go over the different user account types, and the views associated with each type.

Administrator View

Administrators will have complete control of the system, and thus, be able to view all the features. This view will be referenced the most throughout the manual to inform you of sections that only administers can access. User‟s with this view could include, but are not limited to…  PlayNow Techs  Coaches  Teachers  Principles

Student View

These users will have more access than public users, but less access than administrators. They will be able to access the My PlayNow section of the website, communicate with other users, but not be able to edit forms and videos. If you are a student viewing this manual, skip over the Page 9

portions marked for administrators only. Those are sections you do not have access to. User‟s with this view could include, but are not limited to…  Team Members  Students  Parents

Public View

The public view is reserved for those whom do not wish to actually create an account with the system, but want to view some of the features on the system. Before a user logs in, anything they see or do is done in the public view. Features public users have access to include, but are not limited to…  The homepage’s content  The videos coaches have tagged as public  The rosters

Logging in Before you can access your PlayNow Leagues account, you must log in.

Account Information

All account information will be initially created by a member of the PlayNow staff. The information is then turned into the coaches for him or her to distribute amongst the team.

Where to Login

After you get your username and password, you then need to go to your team‟s portal. Coaches should be able to give you the portal URL (web-address), but it is simply… www.playnowleagues.com/(insert name of school)(insert gender if applicable)(insert sport name) Example: Haltom High School‟s Girls Soccer Portal would be… www.playnowleagues.com/haltomgirlssoccer

Figure 5

Page 10

You will then need to locate the login section which sits to the top of the header. Click „Login‟, as pictured in „Figure5‟, to have the log-in section drop-down for you. This drop-down is shown in „Figure6‟. Enter your username and password into the appropriate fields, and then click the „Login‟ button at the bottom.

Remember Me

As you are logging in, you will see that there is a check box you can click with the title „Remember Me‟. If checked, this will help store the log in information you use on your browser. What is stored, how long it is stored, and if it can even be stored options are controlled by your internet browser. To change these options, you have to set how your browser handles „cookies‟. If you do not Figure 6 know how to do this research about cookies in the browsers help sections. We here at PlayNow decided to give you the „Remember Me‟ option, but highly discourage its use on a computer that is not accessed by just yourself. If the computer is shared, other people with the access to the computer will also have access to your PlayNow account.

Forgot your password?

This feature, when selected, will resend you your password via the e-mail for you on your account. Once you have logged into your account with the username and password your coach has given you, the options to change your username, password, and e-mail are found by going to the My PlayNow page and selecting „Edit Details‟ on the Profile tab‟s drop-down menu. If you have not edited your profile details, then you cannot use this option. Simply ask your coach to give you the information again, or contact us via the information in the „Help & Support‟ section of the homepage. The homepage, and other pages that are not user specific, will still be visible to you even if you are not logged in. In the event that you have changed your details, but cannot access or remember the e-mail that you attached to your account, then you must contact us for additional help.

Forgot your username?

This feature, when selected, will resend you your username via the e-mail for you on your account.

Page 11

Additional information on this feature follows the same guidelines as forgetting a password. They both share the same retrieval methods.

Create an account

This option is for the creation of new accounts. New team members, personnel that acquire the need of the system, existing users that wish to start over, parents, or other students of your school would start by using this feature. To ensure that the feature is not abused, or pirated by unauthorized people, new accounts must be confirmed by administrators before it can be accessed.

Additional Information

Finally, it is also important to note that any user logged into the system that leaves their computer idle for a while will automatically logged out for security purposes. You can log back in by going to the homepage.

Logging Out Logging out is a very simple, and highly suggested, option. To do so, go back to the login section and click the „Logout‟ button that replaces the „Log in‟ button. It is shown, to the right, in „Figure7‟. Being sure to log out after you are finished with the system will keep unwanted people out of your account.

Figure 7

Help & Support The „Help & Support‟ section is located to the bottom-left of the webpage‟s footer. If you need to contact a PlayNow tech, submit a „ticket‟ on a technical problem, or request a demo to one of our services, this is the section in which to do so. We can also be reached at out „Support Hotline‟. The number is toll -free 1-800-985-9126.

Page 12

Lock/Unlock Articles If you are an administrator account holder, then throughout the system you would have noticed a red padlock icon like the one shown in „Figure8‟. These locks allow administrators to make certain content only visible to those who have the password that they set for that content.

Figure 8

How to Use Locks

Whenever a lock icon appears reflects content that can be locked. Simply click on the lock to apply a password and to confirm the password. Another window will pop up after confirmation of your password that would allow you to make a title for the lock or apply directions. This „header‟ window is optional though. After the lock has been locked, click the icon again to input the password and make the content visible again. When the administrator that applied the password is ready for its removal, they would click on the icon until the icon shows that it has been unlocked.

Homepage

Overview

The homepage is the main page of your team portal, and is the page that you are automatically taken to when entering your portal, or when logging into the system. You can also re-access this page by clicking the tab “Home” from the navigation bar. This chapter focuses on all the aspects of the PlayNow Leagues system accessible from the homepage.

Log In/Out As explained in the previous chapter, the homepage is where you will find the log in and log out options of your team‟s portal. The section is located to the top-right of the webpages header. Please refer to Chapter 1 for a thorough explanation of logging in and logging out.

Homepage Content The homepage of your system will be completely customizable. School officials can decide what they would like to appear here such as team schedules, team highlights, names of the coaching staff, game footage, or anything else that they choose. PlayNow techs will help develop this content, or make suggestions, if needed.

Team Events

Figure 9

This section is located at the bottom of the homepage, and will list recent upcoming events that have been added to the system by the administrative account holders.  Event Viewing- The event list is initially set up to show all public upcoming scheduled events. Public events, such as pep rallies, can be viewed by anyone who accesses the system regardless of whether or not they have an account. To view events further in the future, or if you have an account and would like to view more events than just the publicly viewed, simply click „View full calendar‟ from the options under the events shown in „Figure 9‟. If you are not logged in, than even under the „Full Calendar View‟ you will only see the events visible to everyone. Page 14

 Adding Events- Team events are added by users who have administrative account access. For admins to add new events, they first must select „View full cal endar‟. After this point, adding events follows the same steps as adding them in the „My PlayNow‟ section. A full explanation on viewing events, and adding events, can be found in Chapter 8 – My PlayNow – Event and Calendar Tabs.

My PlayNow Overview & Home Tab

My Playnow Overview

„My PlayNow‟ is your team‟s official social networking system. The capabilities of „My PlayNow‟ include, but are not limited to, customizing unique player profiles, collaborating with fellow team members, sharing personal images, and keeping up with important events. Coaches can use this section as a way to get new study material to their team members, flag members needing academic or athletic improvement, or even have a private conversation with a student. This feature could even be used as a way to get the students more involved, if you wished, by allowing the students to submit their own ideas for team improvement. Practice never has to be rushed again, and no longer does a student have to miss out on the extra coaching they need. The possibilities on how you can use this tool for your team are endless, and this chapter will go over the basic functions to get you going. Once you have clicked the „My PlayNow‟ tab, you will see that this page has a navigation menu for itself, and many of this manual‟s chapters are organized by its tabs. (Note: There is a „logout‟ link to the right of the My PlayNow navigation menu to quickly log you out of your PlayNow Leagues system.)

Home Tab

The „Home‟ tab directs you to the homepage when clicked, and the homepage is the first page you see after entering the My PlayNow section of the system. Here you will find the recent activity of some of the My PlayNow functions such as „Latest Groups‟, „New Photos‟, „New Videos‟, „Recent Activities‟; and more! Some of these sections have a green gear to the right of the section title, as seen below in „Figure10‟. Clicking on these gears will collapse (hide) the content of its corresponding section, and clicking the arrow that takes the place of the gear once the section is collapsed will unhide the content. Keep in mind that not all sections have this capability.

Members Section The members section is located in the top-left portion of the page, and can be used as a quick-reference guide for the My PlayNow members associated with your team. A member consists of any individual given access to your PlayNow Leagues system, such as a coach or team member. Every member has a blank profile automatically generated that they can edit at any time. Page 16

This is the green gear you click to collapse a section.

After you click the green gear, the section title is still visible, but the section content is hidden. The blue gear has become an arrow that you can click to unhide the sections content.

Figure 10

Initially, all members are linked to you by the sport you participate in, so all members start out as your friend. Similar to most popular social-networking sites, a system „friend‟ is someone you grant permission to see certain profile information that you do not want anyone else to see. In the members section, you will have four viewing options to choose from, and each will display a horizontal list of member profile pictures associated with that view. If you do not recognize which member a certain profile picture belongs to, you can hover over that picture for a text bubble to appear that lists the username and online status of its owner. When a user has not selected a profile picture, the generic „green-man‟ image is used (example seen in Figure10). You can click on a profile image to be taken directly to that member‟s profile. This section can be collapsed by clicking the green gear in the top-right, or you can look through the viewing options listed under the green gear.  Newest- This view is the default view selected when you enter the homepage of My PlayNow. The newest members are shown in this list.  Featured Members- This view is for members that have been marked as featured. Only admin users can select members to be featured. Each admin will most likely have their own reasons for making a member a „featured member‟, but examples could include a member that performed well during a game, members that have shown great improvement, or any member that deserves special recognition for a job well done.  Active- This view shows a list of members that are currently active in your PlayNow Leagues system.  Popular- This view shows the list of most frequently viewed member profiles. Also, in the bottom-right corner of the members section, you will see a link to view all members. This will take you to a page that lists every member on your system. For each member shown, there are quick-links to view their profile, write them a message, or add them as a friend.

Page 17

Videos Section The videos section is located directly below the members section of the page, and is a quick access point to view the latest videos that have been added to the system. Anyone can upload a video, but the video has to be approved by an administrator to be visible on the system. Admins may approve videos that show ways to improve team morale, drills the team should learn, exercise tips, or any other videos that he or she feels the need to share with the team, or require the team to view. As seen in „Figure11‟, each video is listed in separate boxes. In each box, the details for that video are also listed. Figure 11 Those details include thumbnail the video length image (shown of the in the bottom-left corner of the thumbnail image), the video name, the number of views, the date last updated, and the user who added the video. To view a video, you can click either the video‟s thumbnail image, or the video name. If you click the name of the user who uploaded the video, you will be taken to that user‟s profile. When you click one of the links that allow you to view the video, you are taken to a page under the applications tab. Here, you can not only view the video, but you can also view the video‟s description, and leave comments. The video section can be collapsed by clicking the gear, or you can select from one of the three viewing options listed under the gear. Also, in the bottom-right corner of the videos section, you will see a link to view all videos. This will take you to a page that lists every video on your system.  Newest- This view is the default view selected when you enter the homepage of My PlayNow. The newest uploaded videos are shown in this list.  Featured Videos- This view is for the videos that have been marked as featured. Only admin users can select videos to be featured. Each admin will most likely have their own reasons for making a video a „featured video‟, but examples could include a Page 18

video that players are required to watch, a video suggested by a member that was helpful, or a video that is very educational.  Popular- This view shows the list of videos that are most frequently viewed.

Search Section The search section, shown in „Figure12‟, is located in the top-right corner of the page, and is used for finding other member profiles. What if there was more than one player named Mike, and you did not know the last name of the Mike you were trying to find? This is just one example of why you would use the search section. To use this section, simply type the first or last name of the member you are trying to find into the empty field, and click search. If there are no results, or if you do not know the person‟s name, you can click „Advanced Search‟ for additional options. Help for the advanced search is found in Chapter 5 – My PlayNow – Friends Tab. Please note that you cannot collapse (hide) the contents Figure 12 of this section.

Latest Groups Section The latest groups section can be found under the search section on the right-hand side of the My PlayNow homepage. This section will display one of the newest groups created, as well as a few links to some of the other groups. Groups are most easily described as a profile for multiple members focused on a singular topic. For example, there could be a group in a football PlayNow Leagues system for quarterbacks. Only quarterbacks would be members of that group, and they would have a place to discuss being a quarterback with each other, add video about being a quarterback, add images of their quarterback heroes, and more! PlayNow Techs are the only users that can currently create groups, but you can feel free to send us requests! Figure 13

Page 19

As seen in „Figure13‟, this section mainly focuses on the most newly created group. It starts at the top with the profile image of the group, and followed underneath by the group name and a quick group description. Clicking on either the group profile image or the group name will take you to the group‟s profile page. At the bottom of the section, there is a small list of other groups, shown by their group profile pictures, which you can select. You can click „View all groups‟ to be taken to a list of all the groups created in your system. Please note that you cannot collapse (hide) this section.

New Photos Section The „New Photos‟ section, shown in „Figure14‟, is found under the „Latest Groups‟ section on the right-hand side of the page. This section will display a small list of the most recently uploaded photos that members have added to their profiles. Figure 14 Clicking one of the thumbnail images will open the selected image on a new page. At the bottom of the section, there is a „Show All‟ option that will take you to a page displaying all your photos and photo albums. Please note that is section cannot be collapsed (hidden). Administrators are highly recommended to view all photos uploaded by members to ensure their content is appropriate.

Who’s Online Section The „Who‟s Online‟ section, shown in „Figure15‟, is located under the „New Photos‟ section on the right-hand side of the page. This section will display thumbnails of the profile images of all users currently logged into the system. The thumbnails, when clicked, will take you to that users profile. Please note that this section cannot be collapsed (hidden). Page 20

Figure 15

Recent Activities Section The recent activities section, shown in „Figure16‟, is located under the videos section on the left-hand side of the page. In this section, you will find all recent activities from every member that has an account with your system, starting with the most recent events at the top, and less recent at the bottom.

Figure 16

Each event will show a thumbnail image of the user‟s profile image that created the activity, the actual username that that user, a description of the activity itself, and finally, the date on which the activity occurred. Any specific names mentioned in the event, for example, usernames, group names, video names, photo names, and/or photo album names, are automatically converted to links that will take you directly to what was being named. In the top right-hand corner of the section, you will find two viewing options to choose from for this section, or you can collapse it to view no content.  Show All- This view is the view selected by default for the system. You can click this if you have selected another view, and wish to revert back. All activities that you have permission to see are displayed when this view is selected.  Me & Friends- This view, when selected, will cause the activity stream to only display events created by members of your friends list and by you.

Shout-box

The „Shoutbox‟, as seen in „Figure17‟, is found on the top part of the My PlayNow homepage, and Page 21

Figure 17

can only be accessed by administrators. With it, you can add custom messages to the stream by either selecting a predefined message, or by writing a custom message.  Predefined Messages- When you click the option to „Select a predefined message‟, you can then choose from a drop-down menu of questions related to aspects of My PlayNow. Clicking „Post it!‟, after you have decided, will display a new comment from you in the „Activity Stream‟ that answers your question. For instance, as you see in „Figure17‟, the predefined message selected is „Total users registered on the site this month‟. Once „Post it!‟ is clicked, as you can see in „Figure18‟, „There are 4 users registered on this site in February‟ appears in the stream.  Custom Messages- When you click the option to „Write a custom message‟ a text field will appear so that you can type a message to your fellow members.

My PlayNow Profile Tab

Overview

The „Profile‟ tab is the second tab of the My PlayNow navigation menu bar. This tab is dedicated to viewing and editing your user profile. Not only can you click on the „Profile‟ tab to be taken to your profile, but you will notice that when you hover over the profile tab, a drop-down menu will appear for quick profile editing links.

Figure 19 When viewing member profiles, videos, images, or anytime you see the icon shown in „Figure19‟, you can click „Share this‟ to send a link of what you are viewing to your friends. To view the link you send, the recipient must either already have a PlayNow account, or create one from the options under the log-in notification. As you can see in „Figure20‟, you can share the link by selecting a third-party site, or by entering in e-mail addresses. There is also a field to attach personal messages to the link you send. You do not have to attach a message, but you could use it to explain what the link is that you are sending.  Select How to Send- After you click the „Share this‟ icon, a new window will pop-up. From this window, shown in „Figure20‟, you either select a third-party site from the top list, or enter e-mail addresses in the field below the site list. If a third-party site is how you would like to share, keep in mind that you will be directed off the system. Only use trusted sites. You might also be required to log-in the site you choose. Figure 20 When sending by e-mail, enter in the recipients address in the appropriate field. For multiple recipients, separate each e-mail by commas.  Attach a Message- E-mailing the link gives you the ability of being able to attach message to the link you send.  Share This Page- If using a third-party site, you are automatically taken to their system for the posting of your link. No more steps will be required of you on our system. When sending by e-mail, you must click „Share this page‟ at the bottom of the window to send.

Profile Page

Figure 21

By clicking on the profile tab itself instead of an option from the „Profile‟ tabs drop-down menu, as circled in „Figure21‟, you are taken to your profile. Your profile displays your contact information, recent activities, your basic information, your friends, and more. Editing your profile requires you to access the profile tab's drop-down menu option that corresponds to what you wish to edit. The different sections displayed on a profile will change from user to user depending on the account type they have with PlayNow, the profile information they have edited, and the privacy settings they have engaged.

Profile Bar If you are an administrator, you will see a bar on the top of every profile you view. This bar is referred to as a „Profile Bar‟, and an example of it can be seen in „Figure22‟. The four options on this bar allow you to quickly take certain actions to praise a member, or remove inappropriate content.

Figure 22

 Make Featured- You would click this option to make the owner of the profile you are viewing a „featured member‟. Each administrator will most likely have their own reasons for making a member a „featured member‟, but examples could include a member that performed well during a game, members that have shown great improvement, or any member that deserves special recognition for a job well done.  Change Profile Picture- You would click this option if you had a certain profile picture that you wanted to assign to a member, or if they requested it of you.  Remove Profile Picture- You would click this option if a member had an inappropriate or welcome image as their profile picture.  Remove Profile Video- If the member has selected a profile video, click here if you need to remove it.

Page 24

Profile Layout

Though every members profile layout could be slightly different, we are going to go over some of the sections that may be found.

 User Details- This section is untitled, but it is located in the top-left of every member‟s profile. Here you will find that member‟s profile picture, username, last status message, karma points, the date they became a member, the date they were last online, the amount of times users have viewed their profile, and an option to „like‟ or „dislike‟ their profile. o Karma- Karma points are a way to track how active a member is on the system. For every action, such as leaving comments and uploading Figure 23 pictures, your karma points will increase. An example of how the karma points are displayed can be found in „Figure23‟. o ‘Like’ a Profile- In the bottom-right corner of the „User Details‟ portion of a profile, you can find the option to „like‟ or „dislike‟ that Figure 24 profile. As you can see in „Figure24‟, you would click the thumbs up to „like‟ it or the thumbs down to „dislike‟ it.  My Status- As seen in „Figure25‟, this is where you would type any shout-outs you would like to make to fellow members, or to anyone viewing your profile. Simply type in what you would like to say and click „Save‟ from below. You can also find quick links in this section that allow you to jump to multiple My PlayNow features.

Figure 25

 Activity Stream- The „Activity Stream‟, found under your „My Status‟ section, is only different from the „Activity Stream‟ found on the My PlayNow homepage in one way. Here, the only activities shown are from you and the members on your friends list, or from only you. Select which of these two „view‟ options you would like from the top-right of this section.  About Me- This section if found in the top right-hand corner of the page. Information members add to their profile, by updating the „Edit Profile‟ page, will be displayed here. To get to the „Edit Profile‟ page quickly, click the pencil icon in the top-right hand corner of this section. Page 25

 Friends- The „Friends‟ section is found underneath the „About Me‟ section, and is where you will find a small list of your friends. If „Show All‟ is clicked from the bottom of this section, you will be taken to a full list of your friends.

 Groups- This section is found under the „Friends‟ section, and is where you will find any groups that you belong to. Click „Show All‟ at the bottom of the section to browse through available groups.

Profile Tab Drop-Down Menu As shown in „Figure26‟, the „Profile‟ tab has a drop-down menu consisting of six profile editing options. After one of these options is selected, a new navigation bar can be found at the top of the selected options page. This new bar is only visible when on one of the six profile editing pages, and is another way of navigating through the editing pages without having to re-access the dropdown menu.

Change Profile Picture This option allows you to change the image associated to your profile. As you can see on the page, the image you choose will be automatically resized into two separate pieces. The larger image is what is shown in your actual profile, and the smaller version (thumbnail image) is used to represent your profile throughout the rest of My PlayNow to save space sense multiple members are likely to be referenced. To upload your new profile picture, click „Browse‟ to search through your computer files for the image you want, click „Open‟ after you have selected your image, and then click „Upload‟. You can come back to change this picture as often as you would like, but there may be a time delay to ensure your administrators have had ample time to approve your image choice. Figure 26

Change Profile Video

This option allows you to assign one of your uploaded videos to be directly associated with your profile. Unlike with profile pictures, you cannot use this option to upload new videos. For uploading instructions, please see Chapter 6 – My PlayNow – Applications Tab. Page 26

All your uploaded videos will appear on the „Change Profile Video‟ page. Simply choose the one you would like for your profile, and select „Make Profile Video‟.

My PlayNow Friends Tab

Overview

Friends are the members you wish to share certain personal information with, have quick access too, or need to have linked to your account. Initially, all members are linked to you by the sport you participate in, so all members start out as your friend. Over time, as more members accumulate on your system due to interest in your sport, you will be given the chance to invite or deny these members as your friend. The friends tab, shown in „Figure29‟, is the third tab of the My PlayNow navigation menu, and is not only clickable, but you also can hover over it for access to a drop-down menu. The links found on the drop-down menu are used for friend Figure 29 editing and to access currently friended members. You can search through the friends that you already have, see friend requests that you have sent, and see requests that other members have sent to you. Any page that you access from the drop-down menu‟s selections will have a new navigation bar at the top which is used exclusively for the friends tab. The links on this bar, as you can see in „Figure30‟ match the links found in the drop-down menu, and allow you to access the same pages.

Figure 30

Show All The „Show All‟ option is what you need to select in order to see the members you are already friends with. You are also taken to this page by clicking on the tab „Friends‟ instead of accessing the drop-down menu. Under the bar found in „Figure30‟, you will find another bar which holds the sorting and viewing options for the page. Page 30

Figure 31

Friend List’s Viewing Bar

The bar that is found to the top of the „Show All‟ page, shown in „Figure31‟, changes how your friends list is displayed.  Show Options- The options found on the left of the viewing bar control who is shown from your friends list. „All‟ is the default selection chosen by the system, and it means that every friend you have will be shown. o Alphabet Groups- Following „All‟ are small groups of letters. Selecting one of these groups will have your friends list display only the friends whose username begins in the letters you chose. o Others- The last „Show‟ option is „Others‟ Selecting this will make only the friends whose username begins with a symbol be displayed. (!@#$%^&*)  Sort Options- The options found on the right of the viewing bar control the order in which your „showing‟ friends list are displayed. „Recently Added Friends‟ is the default selection chosen by the system, and means that the most recently added will be listed first. o Online- This option will list your friends that are online first, followed by your offline friends. o Alphabetical- This will arrange your friends into alphabetical order by username.

Figure 32

Friend List

Your friends are displayed under the viewing bar. As you can see in „Figure32‟, each friend will have a link to their friends list, a link to write them a message, and a link to their profile. If a friend is online, an alert will appear in the top right hand corner. Hovering over a friend will cause a „Remove Friend‟ option to appear on the right. Clicking this will take that friend off of your friend list.

Page 31

Search This page, similar to the search section of the My PlayNow homepage, is used for finding other member profiles. What if there was more than one player named Mike, and you did not know the last name of the Mike you were trying to find? This is just one example of why you would use the search section. To use this section, simply type the first or last name of the member you are trying to find into the empty field, and click search. If there are no results, or if you do not know the person‟s name, you can click Figure 33 „Advanced Search‟, from either the „Friends‟ drop-down menu or from the friends navigation bar, for additional options.  Members With Avatars Only- Checking the box labeled „Members with avatars only‟, as seen in „Figure33‟, before you click search will cause the results to only display members that have uploaded profile pictures.

Advanced Search If the search option is not providing the results you are looking for, then you can select advanced search. Here, shown to the right in Figure34, you can add criteria to your search for help with finding what you are looking for. Figure 34 You would start by selecting which details you want to search in from the first drop-down menu on the page. Then select how well you want the search to match the details you chose to what you are searching for from the second drop-down menu. Type what particular word or words you are searching for in the blank field to the right of the drop down-menus, and finally, click search at the bottom to display your results.  Search for Multiple Criteria- If you would like to search for more than one criterion, select add criteria from under the first drop-down menu. This will add another search Page 32

pane, and you can add as many as you need. To delete extra search panes you do not end up using, click the red x displayed to the left of the search pane you wish to delete.  Result Display- As a default option, the search will automatically display only the results that match all of the criteria you list. If you are using multiple search panes, but want results that match even one of your selected criteria, then you can change that feature in the section right above the search button. o Members With Avatars Only- Checking the box labeled „Members with avatars only‟ before you click search will cause the results to only display members that have uploaded profile pictures.

Request(s) Sent This page displays any friend requests you have sent out that have not been approved or yet. If you wish to revoke the request, or selected the wrong member to invite as your friend, click the delete option to the right of the request to remove it.

Pending My Approval This page displays the members that have asked you to be their friend. You can select approved to accept, or remove to decline the friend invite request sent to you. Those options are found to the left of the requesting member.

My PlayNow Applications Tab

Overview

The applications tab is the fourth tab shown on the My PlayNow navigation menu bar, and is where will find the pages to view groups available on your system, photos posted by members, and the videos that have embedded. Hovering over the applications tab will drop-down a menu, as seen in „Figure35‟, for you to choose which of those pages you wish to select.

My Applications *Coming Soon* - We will be working with your coaches and education officials to be able to bring you the option of using Figure 35 this tab to install gadgets to My PlayNow for further customization options. Installing gadgets to the system could potentially break the legal obligations we have with your school board on protecting your personal information, upholding a smut-free environment, or ensuring that you remain virus free. Once the subject matter of attachable gadgets and all other requirements are met, we will have this feature available for you.

Groups When this option is selected from the applications drop-down menu, you will automatically be taken to a page that displays the groups you have joined. Above your groups will be a new navigation menu that has three links, which are, „All Groups‟, „My Groups‟, „Pending Invitations‟ and „Search‟.

All Groups

This page allows you to browse through all the groups your admins have made available to you. By default, all the groups are listed at the bottom of the page from the most recently created Page 34

at the top, and working down to the older ones. At the top of this page you will find the group categories you can choose from that have been established by the coaches, an example of which is found above in „Figure36â€&#x;. The amount of groups available for each category is listed in parenthesis next to the category name. Selecting a category will replace the default group list at the bottom of the page with the list of groups in the category you chose.

Figure 36

Under the category list is a sorting menu that will change the way the groups you are currently viewing are sorted. Selecting a sorting option will change the order to show the group that matches the option you picked the most on the top of the list, and will work down to the group that matches it the least.

My Groups This is the page that you were automatically taken to after selecting groups from the applications tab. As previously stated, this page lists all the groups you belong to starting with the newest. You can change the way your groups are sorted by selecting an option from the sorting menu, found above your group list, which will change the order to show the group that matches the option you picked the most on the top, and will work down to the group that matches it the least.

Pending Invitations

If someone asks an administrator to join a group, the request will appear on this page until it is either approved or denied. You can revisit the group, cancel your invite, or send the groups owner messages about the status of your invite.

Search This page is where you would go if you wanted to display a list of groups belonging to particular criteria. Simply type in what are trying to find into the empty field, and then click search. If any groups match your entered criteria, they will appear in a list under the search field.

Page 35

Photos When this option is selected from the „Applications‟ drop-down menu, you will automatically be taken to a page that displays the photo albums you have created. Above your photo albums will be a new navigation menu that has four links, which are, „All Photos‟, „My Photos‟, „Create Album‟, and „Upload Photos‟. These links, shown below in „Figure37‟, are separated on different sides of the navigation menu based upon their function. On the left of the navigation menu are the two options you would use to browse through established photo albums that you are allowed access to („All Photos‟ and „My Photos‟), and to the right are the options you would use to upload new photos („Create Album‟ and „Upload Photos‟). Figure 37

Statistically speaking, most people title their photos with names for their own reference. Examples of this include "Me at home", "Christmas Day 09'", and "Goldie 3 Months Old". To help make you‟re browsing easier, and to avoid massive photo lists, you are required to place any uploaded photo into a pre-created album. An album is a collection of photos related to the name of the album.

All Photos

When you select this option from the photos navigation bar, you are taken to a page that displays albums of all users you have the access to view. Next to the thumbnail image of the album cover, shown in „Figure38‟, are details including the name of the album, the number of photos in the album, the album owner's username, and the date the album was last updated. Click the name of the album or the album cover to view the images inside the album. When inside an album, thumbnail images of each photo will be listed. Click on a photo to view a larger version, and then a few extra options will be available to you. The photos navigation menu will now have the Figure 38 option „back to album‟ on the far left of the bar for you to click when you are ready to go back to the album, or you can click one of the arrows, example of which is shown in „Figure39‟, that will appear to the left and right of the photo when you roll your mouse on top of the image. These arrows, when clicked, will take you to the large version of the photo before (arrow on the left) or after (arrow on the right) the photo you are currently viewing based on its placement in the album.

Page 36

 Comment on Photos- Another option that is only available to you while viewing the large version of a photo is the ability to leave Figure 39 comments, and view comments already left, for the photo you are viewing at the bottom of the photo.  Tag in Photos- If you are the owner of the photo you are viewing, and there are people in the photo that are also your friends on My PlayNow, then you can tag your friend on the photo. Tagging someone allows you to point out who‟s in the photo, and to let the person you tagged know you uploaded an image that they were in. To tag, click the tag this photo option that is right above the comment box. You would then select the persons face you are tagging, and finally assign that tag to the friend it is associated with.

My Photos The „My Photos‟ page of the photos navigation bar is almost identical to the all photos page. Aside from listing only the albums you created, and basic editing options, the same guidelines and options apply that were stated in the „All Photos‟ portion of this chapter. The basic editing options that differ from the „All Photos‟ page are the ability to edit the photo albums name or description, upload new photos to your albums, and to delete certain albums. These options are shown in the bottom portion of the album descriptions.  Edit Your Photos- If you select an album, then the edit album option will also available on the right of the photos navigation bar. If you select a photo from one of your albums, you can make the selected photo the albums cover or delete the selected photo from the new options that appear on the right-side of the photos navigation bar. You can also edit the photo's name by clicking edit to the right of the photo's name.

Create Album This page is where you go to in order to create a new photo album. Remember, you cannot upload photos until you have an album to place that photo in. Start, as shown in „Figure40‟, by choosing a name for the album you want to add your associating photos to. You can also add a more detailed description of the photos this album will hold if you choose to. Click „Create Album‟ from the bottom of the page to finish.

Upload Photos

This page is for the uploading of new images. The maximum number of photos you can have is 500. Once your limit is reached, you must remove some of your photos to be able to upload more. Page 37

To start, as shown in „Figure41‟, you have to select the album you wish to upload to from the drop-down menu. If the photo you are uploading does not match the descriptions of your albums, or if Figure 40 you do not have an album, you must go to the „Create Album‟ page before you upload the image. If you cannot remember which photos are in a particular album, select the album in question, and then a view album option will appear on the right. This will open the album in a new tab of your browser to check its contents without having to leave the upload page. Once you have the album selected, as shown below in „Figure42‟, an upload pane will appear under the select album menu. Click browse to search your computer for the image you want to upload. After the Figure 41 image is found and opened for upload, an additional upload pane is added under the first one automatically for multiple photo uploading to the selected album. You can also click upload another photo from under the upload panes to manually add additional upload panes. To delete extra upload panes, click the red x on the right of the pane you wish to remove. Directly to the right of the browse button on an upload pane is the option to make the photo you are uploading the cover of the album you are adding it to. After all photos you wish to upload for now are ready, click start upload at the bottom of the page.

Page 38

Videos When „Videos‟ is selected from the „Applications‟ drop-down menu, you will automatically be taken to a page that displays all of the videos you have uploaded and embedded. Above your videos will be a new navigation menu, shown in „Figure43‟, that has five links, which are, „All Videos‟, „My Videos‟, „Search‟, „Pending Videos‟ and „Add‟.

Figure 43

Anyone can upload or embed videos, but an administrator has to approve them before they are visible on the system. Because of this, „Pending Videos‟ will only appear for administrative users. Students will only have four options on their video navigation menu. Each video is listed with details such as the video length (shown in the bottom-left corner of the thumbnail image), the video name, the number of views, and the date last updated. To view a video, you can click either the video‟s thumbnail image, or the video name. When selecting videos, you can not only view the video, but you can also leave comments.

All Videos

When you select „All Videos‟ from the video navigation bar, you are taken to a page, shown in „Figure44‟ that displays all of the videos you have access to. For help with sorting the lists of videos, you are provided with several browsing choices. At the top of the page is a category section. Clicking one of the categories will take you to a page that displays the videos belonging to that category.

Figure 44

Page 39

Under the categories, you will find a sorting bar so that you can change the order of the videos displayed by „Latest‟, „Most Discussed‟, „Most Popular‟, or by title.

My Videos

The „My Videos‟ page is where you will find a list of all the approved videos you have either embedded or uploaded. Each video is listed with the same details as the videos on the „All Videos‟ page, but in addition you will have an „Edit‟ and a „Delete‟ option.  Edit Videos- The „Delete‟ option attached to your videos will remove the video from the system, and the „Edit‟ option allows you to change basic details about the video. As you can see in „Figure45‟, when „Edit‟ is selected, a new window will pop up. Here, you can select a new video title, description, category, and change the privacy settings. When you have completed editing, do not forget to click „Save‟ from the bottom of the window.

Figure 45

 Video Description Page- From the „My Videos‟ page, when you click the title of one of your videos, you are taken to a description page for that video. Here you will be able to watch the video, few the video‟s comments, and gain access to details such as the date it was added, its length, and how many times it has been viewed. o Video Toolbar- At the top of this page, you will notice that your video navigation bar has temporarily gained extra options. As seen in „Figure46‟, the extra options yet to be explained in this chapter are „Set as profile picture‟ and „Fetch Thumbnail‟. -„Set as profile picture‟ makes the given video your profile video. -„Fetch Thumbnail‟ generates the small icon that represents the video.

Figure 46

Page 40

o Comment Videos- At the bottom of the page, as seen in „Figure47‟, you can not only read comments left by other users on the video, but you can also add one yourself. Type your comment into the text field, and click „Add Comment‟ when finished. -Selecting „Show All‟ from the bottom of the comment section will take you to a new page that displays all comments on the video instead of just the most recent.

Figure 47

Search

To search through your videos, click „Search‟ from the video navigation bar. You will not be reverted to another page, but as seen in „Figure48‟, a drop-down text field will appear. Type in your search keywords, and click the search button.

Pending Videos

Figure 48

If you are an administrator, you would select this option to be taken to the list of requested video uploads. We require administers to accept or reject student video uploads so that no inappropriate content will enter the system.

Add Video The last option on the video navigation bar is „Add‟ which allows you to upload or embed Page 41

videos to your profile. An administrator has to approve the video before it will appear on the system. When „Add‟ is clicked, the window seen in „Figure49‟ will appear. The window shows your two „add video‟ options, which are to link the video, or Upload the video.  Link Video- To embed a video from a URL to your profile, click the next button under „Link Video‟ from the „Add Video‟ window. Once „Next‟ has been selected, a new window, as seen in „Figure50‟ will appear.

Figure 49

Paste the URL, or embed code, of the video you are linking to, select the category you wish the video to appear in, and then click „Link Video‟ from the bottom of the window. You can only link/upload up to 500 videos. If you have reached your limit, you must delete old videos to add new ones.

Figure 50

Sites You Can Link From- The approved sites are…   

YouTube, Yahoo Video, MySpace Video, Flickr, Vimeo, Metacafe, Blip.tv, Dailymotion, Break, Live Leak, Viddler

 Upload Video- To start, as seen in „Figure51‟ click „Browse‟ to find the video you wish to upload. The maximum file size that you can upload is 8mb. Afterwards, enter a title for the video, enter a description, chose a category, set the privacy settings, and finally click „Upload Video‟. The limit of 500 on video uploads still applies no matter which way the videos are uploaded. Page 42

The „Inbox‟ tab, shown in „Figure52‟, is the fifth tab of the My PlayNow navigation menu, and is not only clickable, but you also can hover over it for access to a drop-down menu. Clicking the „Inbox‟ tab will take you to the same page that selecting „Inbox‟ from the drop-down menu does. For this reason, there will not be a manual section on the tab itself, but you can view the same information in the „Inbox‟ portion of this chapter. Members of your My PlayNow system have the ability to send private messages to each other. Coaches can use this ability to conference their players on areas they need improvement, players can contact their coach for advice, or friends can have a conversation amongst themselves. The possibilities of all this feature‟s potentials are endless.

Inbox When „Inbox‟ is selected from the drop-down menu, you are taken to a page that displays the private messages you have received. There will be a new navigation menu that appears under the My PlayNow navigation bar, to quickly navigate through the sections of the „Inbox Tab‟. The options there are „Inbox‟, „Sent‟, and „Write‟.

Figure 53

Message Display

Your messages that appear, as seen in Figure53, will have the image and name of the user whom sent you the message, the subject line of the message, and when the message was sent. The Page 43

messages are ordered by newest to oldest, regardless of whether they have been read or not. Unread messages subject lines are shown in bold and will have a cream colored background. Read messages have a subject line that is not bold, and will be on a white background.

Message Options Under that navigation bar, you will find any messages that you have received, as well as some options that are available to you without having to open one of the messages. These options are „mark as read‟, „mark as unread‟, and „delete message‟. To activate these options, you would first select any and all messages you want the option to apply to by clicking on the check box found to the right of the message. Clicking the check box that is to the left of the options themselves will automatically select all messages. After the messages are selected, you would then click on the action you wish to perform from the options. Please note that if you are deleting messages, you can also do this by clicking the red 'x' on the right-side of the message as well.

Reading Received Messages Click the subject line of a message in your inbox to read it. You will see, as shown below in „Figure54‟, that each individual message has the ability to be a conversation. This means that replies to and from a message will all be grouped together in the same message. The replies are shown by oldest at the top, and newest at the bottom. Each reply is shown with the image and name of the sender, the date sent, and an option to delete that particular reply of the conversation. An option to mark the conversation you are viewing back to an unread message will appear on the right side of the inbox's navigation bar.

Replying to Messages While viewing the message, write your reply in the text field underneath the conversation, as shown in „Figure54‟, and then click reply. The reply you entered will be displayed at the bottom of the conversation.

Figure 54

Page 44

Sent When „Sent‟ is selected from the drop-down menu, or inbox navigation bar, you are taken to a page that displays the private messages you have sent. Each of these messages, as shown in „Figure55‟, are displayed with your profile image, the subject line of the message, the name of the user you sent the message to, and the time the message was sent.

Figure 55

Delete Sent Messages

You can delete messages by clicking the checkboxes to the left of the messages you wish to remove, and then click „Delete message‟ found directly above the messages listed. (The check box on the right of „Delete message‟ will automatically select all messages.) Another way is to click the red „x‟ on the left of the message you wish to remove.

Write When „Write‟ is selected from the drop-down menu, or from the „inbox navigation bar‟, you are taken to a page, as shown in „Figure56‟, that allows you to write a message to one of the members on your friends list.

Writing a Message To start, select the friend you wish to send the message to, from the list on the right, and Page 45

Figure 56

then click „Add a Recipient‟ from below the list. Repeat this step if you are sending a message to multiple people. After all the people you wish to send the message to have been selected, type what the message is about in the field next to „Subject‟, and input the message itself into the field next to „Message‟. Finally, click „Submit‟ at the bottom of the page to send your message.

Other Ways to Write Messages

If the person you wish to send a message to does not appear on your recipient list, then you must use the alternative method of selecting „Write Message‟ from that person‟s profile. Other places besides a user's profile to find 'Write Message' include, but are not limited to, when viewing a members photos, in friend requests sent to you, and by viewing members of a group. When „Write Message‟ is selected, a pop-up window, shown in Figure57, will appear. Fill out the subject line, type the message and click „Send‟ from the bottom to send the message. If the message was sent successfully, you will get a message which confirms it.

My PlayNow Event & Calendar Tabs

Events Tab

The 'Events' tab is the sixth tab of the My PlayNow navigation menu, and is the tab that you would go to in order to view a list of the most recent upcoming events added to your My PlayNow system by administrators. Unlike the „Team Events‟ section your PlayNow Leagues homepage, you will not only view events that have been tagged as publicly viewed, but also the events you must be a team member to view. Clicking the title of an event listed will allow you to view additional details relating to that event. To add a new event (only if you are an administrator), change the view in which the events are shown, or to view events that take place further in the future, you would select „View a Full Calendar‟ from the bottom of the page.

C al e n d ar Tab Similar to how you would go to the „Events‟ tab to see a list of events, you would click on the „Calendar‟ tab to see a monthly calendar. Though both of these tabs will inevitably lead you to the „View Full Calendar‟ page, you would probably access each tab for different reasons. Once the „Calendar‟ tab has been clicked, as shown in Figure58, you are taken to a basic calendar of your current month. You cannot view months that have already passed, but you can view months to come by clicking the small gray arrow to the right of the calendar‟s month and year.

Figure 58

Additional Info

Additional My PlayNow Information

There are a few features of the My PlayNow section that are conditional, or that do not apply in the manner the chapters of My PlayNow information was arranged.

Add a New Friend

Adding new friends to your friends list is an easy process. First, find the profile of the person you wish to add as a friend, click the „Add as friend‟ option underneath the username of their profile, send the request, and finally, wait to be accepted. As you can see in „Figure67‟, the form that appears after you click „Add as friend‟ is a simple form. You can input a comment into the field for the person you asking trying to friend if you would like, but it is not necessary. Be sure to click „Add Friend‟ when you are ready to send, or „Cancel‟ if you have changed your mind about adding them.

Figure 67

Notifications Unless you have changed your privacy settings, the system will notify you of alerts to your profile by displaying a new tab on the My PlayNow navigation menu, an example of which can be found in „Figure68‟.

Figure 68

Page 53

This new tab will appear as a number after the „Calendar‟ tab. The number will reflect the amount of new notifications that you have received.  Notifications Menu- When you click the alert tab from the My PlayNow navigation menu, as shown in „Figure69‟, a window will pop-up. This window is called your „Notification Menu‟. The alerts that are displayed here include, but are not limited to, friend requests, new messages, and comments other users have added to an aspect of your profile.

Videos The Video Workflow Manual

The „Videos‟ menu is home to all video the features and tools you have access to as a member of a PlayNow Leagues system. The „Videos‟ tab, found on the navigation bar, displays the video options on a drop-down menu that you can only access if you are an administrator account holder.

The PlayNow system‟s video workflow is very flexible and powerful. We offer many solutions when it comes to video, and in most cases, the video workflow is completely customized to suit your needs. When your system was purchased, you received special video solution documentation for any troubleshooting issues your system may incur. Additional solutions can be met by speaking with your PlayNow agent.

Figure 70

Our video workflow has been detailed in the „PlayNow Video Workflow Manual‟ and provides a broad overview of each of our solutions. The manual is available online in our „Help & Support‟ section and is available for download. If you need any further assistance or would like to speak with one of our techs, you may do so by choosing your choice of contact method from the „Help & Support Desk‟.

Roster

Overview

„Roster‟ is the next tab of your „PlayNow Leagues Navigation Menu‟. In this section, you will be able to view a list of the players in your team, and the stats of each of those players. The different positions that can be played in some sports could cause some player stats to vary from others.

Team Roster Index Once you select 'Roster' from the main navigation bar, you will be automatically taken to the 'Team Roster Index' portion of the roster section. This is where you will find a list of all of the players on you team, and each will have a link, by clicking their name, that will show you the full stat list of the player you selected. The stats that you will find on a player can include but are not limited to...  Name- The player‟s name.  Image- The player‟s image.  Position- The position played by this player. Figure 71  Height- The height of the player.  Weight- The weight of the player.  Grade- The grade if school this player is currently in.  G.P.A.- The players current G.P.A.  Highlight- A goal or accomplishment this players has recently achieved. Figure 72

Page 56

Admin account users will be able to „Edit‟ or „Delete‟ entries into the roster by selecting the corresponding button from the index listing of the roster to change.

Search \

On the top of the 'Team Roster Index' page, you will see a link called 'Team Roster Index' that will transport you back to the page if you navigate off while browsing the players. To the right of this link, you will see another link called 'Search'. When you click this link, you are taken to a search page. Input the keywords you are looking for into the field, and click 'search'.

Figure 73

For additional searching options, you can have the search engine match any of the keywords you entered, match all of the keywords you entered, or match the exact phrase entered, by selecting the corresponding bubble underneath the field before clicking 'Search'. At any point, you can click 'Clear Selections' in the bottom-right to empty any search parameters you have entered so far to start fresh.

Scout Connections

Overview

„Scout Connections‟ is the next tab of the navigation menu if you have scout or admin access. A member with a player‟s account will not even see this tab. When a scout visits the site, they have the option of filling out a form to show interest in a particular player, share overall team comments to the coach, or simply to state that they had visited.

Connections archive The „Scout Connections‟ tab has one drop-down menu option called „Connections Archive‟. This is where an admin account holder, mainly coaches, would go to access the information scouts left when filling out the aforementioned form. Not every field is required for the scout to fill-out, but below is a list of all fields on the form. Timestamp: Are you a Scout?: What School are you a Scout for?: Name: E-Mail: Phone Number: Are you scouting a specific player?: Name of player you are scouting: Figure 74 Title: Add any additional information you would like the Team Coach to view:

Account Manager

Overview

The „Account Manager‟ tab is the next tab of the navigation menu, but it is only accessible and seen by admin account users.

Eligibility Players are required to keep a certain G.P.A. to order to be eligible for participation in sporting events. When you set up your PlayNow Leagues account, your schools required G.P.A. was entered into your „Account Manager‟ so that you can use the „Eligibility‟ section to help you keep track of which players are, and are not, eligible. When „Eligibility‟ is selected from the drop-down menu, you are automatically taken to the form for inputting new eligibility reports. Keeping up with these roster eligibility reports each week is a great way to track each players eligibility. To fill out the form, first input the name you would like you new report to be called. We suggest keeping all your records title specific. The suggested format is „Week 1 Eligibility Record‟, „Week 2 Eligibility Record‟ and so on. No matter what you decide to name the Figure 75 record, this field is required, so it must be filled in. The next field is called „Created by‟ and you, the creator, have the option of entering your name here or to not. „Date Submitted‟ is the last field of the page, and is a required field. Simply fill in the date you are creating this report, and sense all forms should be complete now, click „Continue‟ from the bottom of the page. „Updating your Players‟ is the next page of the form, and here you will add each player and their status for the week. If a player is eligible, then do nothing to the boxes under their names, and skip to the next player. If a player is ineligible then check the corresponding box. You will apply this same rule for the probational status of each player. When finished, click 'Continue' to be taken to the next set of players. Repeat this step until you are taken to the final page that allows you to add any notes, ideals, updates, reminders or specific instruction for that week. Click „Submit‟ at the bottom to post this report when you have entered all your data. Page 59

Eligibility History

When viewing the drop-down menu, you will notice an arrow to the right of the „Eligibility‟ option. Hover to the arrow, and the option „Eligibility Figure 76 History‟ will appear. When clicked, „Eligibility History‟ takes you to the page which displays all of the reports that you have generated from the „Eligibility‟ option in a spreadsheet format for your viewing pleasure. In the event that you lose or gain a team member, and wish to have the form and spreadsheet reflect this, click „Edit this page‟ from the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. The editable spreadsheet will appear, so click on the cell you wish to change. At the bottom of the spreadsheets menu, you will see the sheets formula bar. Whatever content was in the cell you clicked will also be displayed here. Delete the old content, and replace it with what you need it to say. When finished, click on any empty cell for the changes to post. Do not forget to file/save when finished to not lose your changes. We here at PlayNow will have the template generated for these reports, but if you should ever wish to further personalize these sheets, please contact a PlayNow tech. They will be able to provide you with detailed instructions with the capabilities of the reports, and formatting options.

Academic Summary/REDLIST Accessing this option takes you to an academic summary report displaying the G.P.A.s of all team members from week to week. Whenever the report detects G.P.A.‟s that do not met the eligibility requirements, that G.P.A. is highlighted red to instantly notify you of the discrepancy. It is because of that handy feature that we call this report the RedList.

Reading the RedList When your account was initiated with PlayNow, we had the coaches and administration choose what aspects were going to be detailed in this report. No two systems are going to have the same RedList, but the basics will be the same. The columns represent the different school weeks, and the rows detail the academic data tracked. Players will be separated by special row dividers that list the student‟s name. Whether your school decided to track just the failing G.P.A.‟s found, or the G.P.A.‟s and additional data such as absences, your spreadsheet will flag you by highlighting that data red. Page 60

Figure 77

Editing the RedList Your team member name‟s, and data entering methods, were set up for you based upon the preparation meetings held between the schools administration and PlayNow. Unless you want to completely rebuild the RedList, then the only editing you are likely to conduct on this report is to add the weekly data accumulated as it becomes available, or to exchange team members in the event of a new student, or leaving student. To edit, click „Go to spreadsheet view” from either the top left or bottom left of the RedList. Similar to the eligibility report, click on the cell to edit, replace the information in the formula bar, and then file/save. Be careful to only attempt to change the data as you were instructed, unless you have experience with spreadsheets, to avoid deleting a necessary function formula. Keep in mind that you can always forward any editing requests, no matter how small, directly to a PlayNow tech. Information on how to completely customize the RedList can also be provided from a PlayNow tech if you do have experience in spreadsheet making.

Weekly injury report The weekly injury report is report to simply track any injuries a player might acquire during Page 61

practice or game-play. The editing and reading of this report matches the guidelines of the other reports found in the PlayNow system. Again, all reports are built around the needs and wants of the particular school accessing the system, so please forward any questions to a PlayNow tech. This will allow us to troubleshoot your issue based solely on the build we have generated for your system‟s report.

Figure 78

Player stats form When „Player Stats Form‟ is selected from the account manager drop-down menu, you are taken to a work-sheet that allows coaches or admins to track player stats. A roster is similar in function, but on the PlayNow system, a roster is a public-viewing guide anyone can reference. Details on a roster are basic, and not as technical, as those that are found on the player stats form. Coaches and other admin accounts are the only ones that can access the account manager, and thus, access this form. To edit the rows on this form, simply click the „edit‟ option that is to the left of every row. You can select „+Add‟ from the top-left to add a new row if you need to add a new player. If you need more simply customizing options, such as deleting rows, adding columns, deleting columns, and changing what the column represents, click „Go to spreadsheet view‟ from the bottom-left of the page. Page 62

Figure 79

Once you are in the spreadsheet view, right click on the cell you wish to edit, and select the editing option you wish to perform from the menu that appears. To avoid long lists, or to simply keep yourself more organized, you can create multiple sheets to separate classes, teams, positions, or any other grouping method that you would like to incorporate.

Figure 80

Page 63

When you plan to us multiple sheets, first name the sheet you are currently working on. To the bottom-left of the screen is the text „Sheet 1‟ with a small arrow to the right. Sheet 1 is your workspace. Click the small arrow, and then click „Rename‟ from the menu that appeared to give this sheet a new name such as „Varsity Team‟. To the right of this is a small plus sign. Selecting it will make another workspace appear for you to edit, and rename. Do not forget to file/save when you are done with any changes so that you do not lose them. If you do not feel that you have enough experience with spreadsheets to successfully edit, you can contact a PlayNow tech for additional support, or for an editing request.

Player/student info When „Player/Student Info‟ is selected from the Account Manager drop-down menu, you are automatically taken to a page that allows you to input information on your players and/or students. The information collected helps to centralize When you finish filling out the form, do not forget to click „Submit‟ at the bottom of the page. Figure 81

Info Archive When viewing the drop-down menu, you will notice an arrow to the right of the „Player/Student Info‟ option. Hover to the arrow and the option „Info Archive‟ will appear. Page 64

When clicked, „Info Archive‟ takes you to the page which displays the student information you stored on the „Player/Student Info‟ page. With access to this feature, you will never have to worry filing forms, misplacing folders, or in case of emergency, use precious time locating a parent‟s phone number.

Contact Request When you select „Contact Request‟ from the account manager‟s drop-down menu, you are taken to a page which holds the form to request contact information for a specific college, college coach, scout or person. We will provide you with the most recent contact info. Our method ensures you get the information you need! Other services provide long lists of contacts to sort through and often are not up to date. The form is on the right side of the page, and only requires you to fill in three fields before clicking „Submit Contact Request‟, on the bottom of the form, to send the request. Place your e-mail address in the first field so we know where to reply to your inquiry. Request type, the second field entry, refers to the type of contact (I.E. coach, or scout) you wish to get contact information for. The final field is where you would put additional details if applicable.

PN College Search As an additional tool for your researching needs, we here at PlayNow have compiled a database of college which includes basic contact information. When „PN College Search‟ is selected from the account manager‟s drop-down menu, you are taken to a spreadsheet of the colleges. By default, they are organized by the name of the city they are in. At the top of the spreadsheet, you will find a small drop-down menu that will change the amount of entries displayed on the page before you have to go to the next. Here is a list of some of the basic information that is listed on the spreadsheet. -College/University Name -City -Zip code -Website -Length -Degree Offered -Undergraduates -Email Address

-College Address -State -Telephone -Campus Setting -Type -Student Population -Campus Housing -Athletic Director Page 68

You can change the way you see a college by clicking the „View‟ option to the left of every row. This will cause the college you choose to appear as an individual window that only shows that college‟s contact information. For an example of this, see Figure

When clicked, you are transported to a page of the PlayNow High School Leagues portal which allows you to search for other High Schools that also have hubs with our system. This search is only available in a method such as this, and cannot be accessed by going directly to our main portal page.

Search Individual Profile’s The second option of the drop-down menu is very similar to the first. The only difference is what is being searched.
