CANES & COCOA Bundle up the family and come out Saturday, December 3rd for our 6th annual event at our largest playground, the Valley at J.J. Biello Park. Children ages 1-9 are sent to hunt for candy canes on the field, small, and large playground. The children will be separated into different age groups. Following our hunt, families can enjoy hot cocoa and holiday snacks in the pavilion and “sleigh” rides on our tractor. You never know what special guests may appear! Don’t miss out on this fun event! Pre-registration required due to limited space. Cost is $5 per child. Check in at 9:30am. Candy hunt starts at 10am. SANTA’S LETTERS Do you want your child to receive a special letter from Santa? If so, drop your child’s letter to Santa off at the Recreation Center along with $2 each. Letters will be accepted at the Recreation Center front desk from November 28-December 9. Once received, Santa will personally reply to each letter and mail it back to your child from the North Pole! SANTA’S CALLING He’s making his list and checking it twice, going to find out who’s naughty or nice! Mom and Dad…if you want Santa and his elves to call your child or children this year on December 12 from 5:30-7:30pm, please complete the form in this brochure for Santa’s Calling and mail, drop off, or fax to 770-924-7890 by Friday, December 9. Board members’ terms run concurrent with appointing Board of Commissioners. SAFETY CLASSES ARC Lifeguard Class‐ Blended Learning Ages: 15 years or older Min/Max: 6/12 Cost: $200
This class will provide you with an American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR for Professional Rescuer, Nationally recognized Certification. You must be 15 years of age by the last day of class and be able to complete the following skills on the first day to be able to continue the class: swim 300 yds. Continuously, tread water for two minutes legs only, and retrieve 10lb. brick from 7 ft of water. Students must attend every day of class, and be on time to class, and pass all exams to become certified.
For this class you will need to come prepared to swim every day, and be on the floor for training. Please bring a packed lunch or you may purchase food at our concessions stand. Blended learning will have about 7 hours of online learning that students will need to start before the first day of class.

Requests are handled in the order they’re received. New requests must be filled out for every session you wish to have lessons. CCAC will not pair Semi-Private lessons. Lessons are usually offered in packs of 4, 6 or 8 lessons depending on the session (most sessions do not have 8 classes available).
Build on the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency in a pool environment. Improve participants’ proficiency in performing the swimming strokes that were introduced in Level 3. Cherokee Youth Lacrosse (Recreational Youth Lacrosse) Spring Season 2017 Cherokee Youth Lacrosse is a recreational youth lacrosse program for players in Cherokee County. Spring 2017 Lacrosse will include practice two days per week (Bantam and above) and 8 regular season games and an end of the season tournament. All practices and home games will take place at JJ Biello Riverside Athletic Complex or other county parks as necessary. All away games will take place at other parks within the North Metro Atlanta area. Little LAXers division will practice and play on Saturdays at a set time at JJ Biello Riverside Athletic Complex or other parks as necessary. Players, Bantam and above, will receive a jersey and shorts for game uniforms. Little LAXers uniforms will consist of a t‐shirt. Youth Classic: Opening Day: Saturday, March 18, 2017 (Opening night parade is Friday, March 17, 2017) Dual Participation‐ no player may (play or practice) with another team outside of CYS during the same season (i.e. travel teams and/or any other league, ect.) Players found guilty of this violation will be removed from the league immediately with out refund. Twin Creeks Softball Complex at Biello Park is the home park for CYS, but any CRPA facility may be used if necessary for practices/games. Tuesdays and/or Thursday and/or Saturdays are primary playing days, but other weekdays may be used if necessary. All dates, days, times and leagues are subject to change due to number of participants and/or inclement weather. AMERICAN RED CROSS BABYSITTING
This course is ideal for current and future baby‐sitters. It will teach important childcare skills to help you supervise and keep younger children safe. SPECIAL EVENTS GUNS AND HOSES 5K RUN/WALK AND 1 MILE FUN RUN Together with the Cherokee County Fire Department (Hoses) and the County Sheriff’s Office (Guns), Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency will be hosting its 11th annual 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run. The purpose of the run is to raise money for charity causes selected by both groups. This year, the charity for CCFD will be The Goshen Valley Boys Ranch which is a non‐profit home serving young men in the state foster care system. The charity for Cherokee Sheriff’s Office will be the Cherokee Sheriff’s Foundation which provides funding for charities and people in need locally in Cherokee County. When registering, you will pick the team that you want to represent and a portion of your fee will go towards their chosen charity. (Shirt size selections will be guaranteed for those that register by February 10th ONLY). All 1 mile Fun Run participants will earn a commemorative medal. For the 5K race, awards will be given in both male and female divisions and in a variety of age groups as well. CANES & COCOA Bundle up the family and come out Saturday, December 3rd for our 6th annual event at our largest playground, the Valley at J.J. Biello Park. Children ages 1‐9 are sent to hunt for candy canes on the field, small, and large playground. The children will be separated into different age groups. REGISTRATION INFORMATION General Information Registration begins Monday, November 7, 2016 for most programs. Early registration is not permitted. Registration can be completed online (for most programs) or in person at the Recreation or Aquatic Center. Returned checks are subject to a $35 fee. A transaction fee is charged on ALL debit/credit card purchases. Registration is taken during normal business hours at the Recreation Center. Registration and Pass sales are available from 9am to 30 minutes prior to close at the Aquatic Center. When paying in cash, please have the correct amount. Cancellation Policy All classes not meeting minimum enrollment will be postponed or canceled. Program minimums are five (5) participants unless otherwise noted. If your class is cancelled, you will be notified. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment, inclement weather or instructor availability. A full refund will be given for cancellation of classes. Credit/Refund Information All refund/credit requests must be completed in person during regular business hours. Refund/credit requests must be completed at least five (5) working days prior to the beginning date of the program. Refund/credit requests must be in writing and are subject to approval by the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency staff. Refunds may take up to 30 days for processing. There are No Cash Refunds. Participants requesting a refund will be charged a $5 administrative fee. Family Discount Family discounts may be offered for some programs Music Together may vary by session Scholarship Program A family or individual can apply for a scholarship one time per calendar year (1/1‐12/30). Some restrictions DO apply. Applications must be received five (5) business days prior to the end registration date. Call 770‐924‐7768 for details and applications. Registration Requirements All children ages 4 and over registering for programs that do not allow for parental supervision must continent. If the participant requires any special accommodations, the ADA Compliance Coordinator is required to be notified within fifteen (15) business days prior to the beginning of the program in order to attempt to accommodate. Age and gender requirements can be found under the program descriptions on each page. Participants (or their parents or guardians) must sign waiver/release form prior to participation in any program. Payment received after the second class may be subject to a $5 late fee.

Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency will be hosting its 11th annual 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run. The purpose of the run is to raise money for charity causes selected by both groups. This year, the charity for CCFD will be The Goshen V alley Boys Ranch which is a non-profit home serving young men in the state foster care system. The charity for Cherokee Sheriffâ€™s Office will be the Cherokee Sheriffâ€™s Foundation which provides funding for charities and people in need locally in Cherokee County. When registering, you will pick the team that you want to represent and a portion of your fee will go towards their chosen charity. Shirts will be made available in your race packet for all 5K participants only. (Shirt size selections will be guaranteed for those that register by February 10th ONLY). All 1 mile Fun Run par ticipants will ear n a commemorative medal. For the 5K race, awards will be given in both male and female divisions and in a variety of age groups as well.
